  • Sim Room Essentials and Interior Design.

Hi guys, I am in the process of building my sim room and I thought I'd double check with people who are more knowledgable on the topic than me.

    I think I have the essentials :

    Projector
    Driving range mat
    Enclosure and screen
    Skytrak Device.
    Gaming PC

Is there anything else I am missing?

Also just in terms of decoration and accessories I have :

    Canvas pictures
    Mini Fridge
    Den Caddy bag
    Sofa/Chairs (TBD)
Artificial grass ( Needs to be bought)

If anyone has any idea's for the interior design, Sim Room essentials or anything, I would love to know. I want to get this right the first time so it doesn't eat into my wallet in the long term.

    Thanks!

I would lump the Software into the essential section. The cost is such that it should not be overlooked. Could be $1000 for TGC or $300 for e6

Ah yes I forgot the software, will definitely be TGC , I was playing it on PS4 before I discovered it can be played on a sim. So I'm very excited to play the courses with a golf club and not a controller.

Depends on your enclosure, but you will want to ensure that you eliminate any possibility of bounce back (apart from what you would normally get from the screen). I.e. if you have metal conduit, how will you ensure no bounce back if hit?

Other things people tend to think about is lighting (will you have a spot light on your hitting position if your room is dark) and the next is cameras. If you are going all out, adding TV's is always a good idea and consider if you would like a touch screen (if using a laptop, maybe go with one that also has a touchscreen). A final thought is to get something for you to rest your clubs on (pool cue holder or fishing rod holder) rather than pulling your clubs out of a bag all the time.

Will you play online with others and if yes, then a web cam and perhaps a mic would be helpful (I have not played online yet and thus ask others if they use these while playing).

I don't think I am concerned over bounce back, purely because the enclosure is 4m wide. Maybe the roof of the enclosure might be a problem, how would you suggest protecting it?

In terms of lighting I will go with a spotlight style over the hitting mat. No TV or Monitor required, I am just going to use the projector screen to show image. Maybe later down the line I will pick up a monitor. I didn't think of something to hold my clubs, good idea.

I doubt I will be playing online that often, I don't know anybody else with a golf sim so any online play, I'd be happy to not have a mic/cam.

Any idea's for design and props for the room? Thanks for the reply!

I have just about finished my room, now starting to play, and as a first iteration I think some things you need to test out a little to get perfect, but some things have to be right from the start. For example wall and ceiling cabling, so just be sure you future proof, for example swing camera wiring, cinema hub, as well as pc placement.
      best of luck..
