Garage sim build in tight space UK

Hi Guys

Garage Sim is up and running with a few finishing bits still needed but been hitting balls for a week or so now. Credit to this forum for all the ideas and info i picked up along the way. I thought i would share my build also. If it helps anyone then thats great.


My garage is 9.8ft wide, 20ft long with 10ft of height


With it being super tight on the width ive offset the hitting area which only accommodates right handers (sorry lefties)


Materials used for build:


Impact screen from golfbays - £215

1 x 2m Tee Turf mat from golfswingsystems - £200

Skytrak - pre-owend from ebay - £1700

Artificial grass from the internet - £60

Carpet for walls from internet - £80

Epson TW650 projector from Amazon - £500



I have no power to the garage and cannot run any electric - So the projector and 12W LED spot light runs off a 130AH AGM Leisure battery and 1000W inverter.


Just goes to show if you can swing you can Sim

I have a Mevo+ on order but opted for a skytrak for the short term to get me going

Hi Toad - It’s Just a standard felt back carpet which I got from burts.co.uk. Found the darkest offcut they had

no problem - they were really good. Ordered during start of lockdown and they delivered really quick with contactless delivery. Couldn't fault them. Carpet was almost too nice to put on the garage wall lol

Yep fitness golf on trial as i think i will go with the Mevo+ when it arrives so didnt want to commit to a skytrak software package just yet. Also im running fitness golf from a high spec laptop but not a gaming laptop so only have a standard graphics card. Its seems to run fine tho!

Im still unsure what direction i will go regards software - as i have limited power i will most probably need to invest in a gaming laptop that can run from its own battery. Then maybe look at TGC2019?

I would say to try the E6 connect demo as well but without the gaming laptop it may struggle, creative golf also has a demo that would work on a standard graphics card. Impressive that you have it all running on battery via an inverter. One thing I would say about a gaming laptop is that as soon as you start using the dedicated GPU it chews into the battery life. With my laptop I am lucky to get more than an hour before the battery dies. When I used to have my setup in a Marquee at the bottom of the garden I just ran a 50M extension cable from the house, is that not an option for you?

Thanks i will deffo take a look at E6 - i tried WGT on the iPad today and was really impressed with it. Downside is you only get single player with the play and improve plan. But graphics and play seemed really really good. Much better than fitness golf i felt.

That was my worry about a gaming laptop and nailing the battery. The garage is in a lane at the back of the house and my garage happens to be half way down it (typical) - I would need to see what power the laptop would draw and see if i can run alongside the projector. Failing that i either go down the IOS route or get another battery hooked up to the inverter. But the battery is a killer to carry back to the house to charge lol

I bought one of those power bank things a few years ago with AC sockets. Something similar to this on Amazon it's basically what you already have but packed into a single smaller unit.

Not cheap but maybe another option to get some power and a lot easier to lug around. You can hook most of them up to a solar panel as well so if you can have solar panel on your garage you may be able to play sim golf for longer

Tanks mate - i did look these before opting for a AMG battery and inverter but wasnt sure it would be enough power. I could hook the battery to some Solar Panels but would cost a few hundred i think. there are some cheapy ones on amazon but not sure if they would be any good.
