GC Hawk vs HD Golf vs About Golf - recommendations needed!

I had a custom sim built in my old home using a Flightscope Xi Tour, then I upgraded to a GCquad. Overall I was very happy with the experience with the Quad. Currently, the tentative plan is to proceed with the GC Hawk in my new home. However, I would be doing myself a disservice by not at least exploring 2 other options, which based on my research, are the 2 best other options. I sold my Quad to the buyer of my old home. My new home has 10 foot ceilings, It will be an open space across from the bar.


The 2 things in order that are important for me are...

1.) Club & Ball Data and accuracy for improvement and constantly tweaking my swing and game
2.) game play and functionality

Any opinions from people who have experience or have used all 3, I would love to hear about it. Or if there is a thread that I haven't found that would be helpful, I'll gladly take the link!

I understand the approximate cost of all of these. That is not factoring into my decision.

Interesting. Any reason you have discounted the Uneekor Eye XO? It has (apparently) the accuracy you want but with a wider range of sim options. Not sure how many Hawks there are "in the wild", there is very little mention of them in these forums.

My big thing getting the Xi Tour(which I actually still have) is I wanted the doppler option to take outside. I have 3 young kids, and realized that the time it takes for me to pack it up, take it the range and set it up, is a lot of hassle. Not to mention the 20 or 30 people that bother me when I'm hitting balls with it. The Quad was great, but I don't want anything on the ground anymore, it get's bumped, plus the kids run into it from time to time. This next Sim is going to be an open space as well.

You may not be interested but I dont see Uneekor in your line up. I currently use Quad and Uneekor EYEXO. Uneekors new system keeps up with quad with no problems other than the putting data. Uneekor reads the ball great with putting but no detail on skid etc.... Also with the Uneekor you get the images at impact that are nice to see. I love having both units and both have their place in my uses. Again with all that being said Uneekor is newer and they are still working on software side of things but customer service has been excellent. I know money may not be a huge factor in decision but accuracy of unit is great and price is good too. The unit also partners up with a lot of 3rd party software providers for SIM play which is nice. Uneekors course play that you can upgrade to is not the best. I am not familiar with HD or About Golf but both look sweet too. GCHawk I would imagine is excellent and I actually looked into it before purchasing the Uneekor system. I posted an image of my set up so you can see the two units in use.

Jay at Golf Simulator Videos had posted lots of videos of both the Uneekor launch monitors, and lots of other systems as well. e.g. https://youtu.be/S6x5qpqF9RU
Coincidentally his simulator space is a HD Golf install, but he doesn't post videos about that any more.
He is always keen to answer questions about various systems, since he has affiliate deals with several of them and will get a small commission if you go through him.

I think Of the options listed by you plus Uneekor are worth consideration.

I think for HD golf you need to decide if their visual experience is what you are looking for/interested in. If it is, then the decision is easy. If it is not, then you need to look at the other 3.

I have not looked at Aboutgolf for some time now and wonder if they have done much to upgrade their system and also if you still require marked balls. Please note that my understanding is that the lower priced Uneekor (the one released about a year ago and not the new unit released a couple of months ago), HD golf and from what I understand Aboutgolf require marked golf balls to capture accurate spin data. This could again be a big factor to narrowing down your decision.

The final point is software and as mentioned Uneekor gives you some good options in terms of third party sim play. However, if you are still undecided at this point, then I think you need to spend time looking at the software and choose the one you like best overall.

Thanks for your input. I'm a little confused by your HD golf comment. What do you mean if their visual experience is what I'm looking for? Is there something far different or lacking about it?

Yes HD golf uses actual images from the golf course. However the images are static (I think is the term used) in that they are still images taken from numerous places throughout the golf course. The pictures are stunning, but is something g that others have been quoted as not being what they would like. For all the others, the images are graphical representations. These representations can be very good, but can be for what some may call arcade like. For me, some of the better options have done a great job in the graphics while others lag behind a bit.
