  • Good Deal for Golf Simulator setup?

Hey all. First post here. I have been looking at simulators online for the past few weeks planning out a distant future build. I was browsing around FB Marketplace and this simulator just popped up close to me. A guy bought a business and it had this simulator in there. He knows nothing about golf he just wants to get rid of it he said. He is asking $2,000 and I offered him $1,000 and he said that's fine. It comes with everything in the pictures. The Cage, impact screen, projector, mounts, turf, and simulator. He doesn't know the model of the projector or anything but I do see its a BenQ. The simulator looks like optishot to me.

Is this package a good deal for $1,000 or could I get into a new optishot setup for close to that? (not that I are for optishot personally)

Its a good deal for $1000. The projector alone is at least half that and throw in the screen and cage and everything and it works out to a good deal.

Sell the optishot for a couple hundred bucks and reinvest that back into the simulator. Just make sure the room that you will be putting it can accommodate it and that you will be able to mount the projector where it will need to be.

Ok. If I were to resell it to save for a Uneekor system could I get more than $2,000 out of it? I am a big fan of buying and reselling.

Possibly? It depends some on the type (and condition) of the screen. If you bought it for $1,000 and sold the entire thing I would bet you could flip it for a little bit of profit, but you also have to consider the enormous cost of shipping something like that or the very limited market of local buyers.

If I were looking for an entry level sim, I would spend $1,000 for all of that and gradually make my upgrades over time (provided the dimensions of the enclosure are close to what I would want). But if I were only trying to flip it for a profit I doubt I would bother with the hassle. But that's just me.

If the enclosure is the size you want, I would say buy it. Sell the optishot and put that towards your savings for the unit of your choice (or play with the optishot until you have the money saved up for something else). But as long as the enclosure, projector and screen are in good shape, there's no real rush to unload those in my opinion. And considering even a used BenQ will run you several hundred dollars, $1,000 for the whole thing is pretty good considering you could sell the optishot for a couple hundred. You'd then be about $800 into it for a projector, enclosure and screen which is a great deal.

I think you should offer less. Maybe around $500-600
          My breakdown:
Used Projector, tons on ebay for $200-300
          https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...ector&_sacat=0

New Golf Cage and Screen $430

Those are lower resolution projectors. If that's what the guy is selling, then you are correct that $1,000 is probably high. However, if it's a 1920x1080 projector, that changes things dramatically. Big price difference between those 2 types of projectors. (Of course, if the guy easily accepted an offer that was half the asking price he might be willing to go even lower anyway)

nasonjo -- I would ask him to read off the model number for you to see what you're working with.

I have asked him 3 times and he just takes a low resolution picture of the projector again haha. I don’t know if he cares enough to get on a ladder and look. It matches up to a model (can’t remember exact one) for $500 new. I will see if he wants to do $400 and if not it’s probably not worth the hour drive and disassemble.
