  • Sonos - behind screen?

I have a full trackman build. Has anyone added a Sonos arc behind the screen?

if so how’d it work? Did you add sub and/or ones or fives to the set up?

    thanks!

I have the Sonos Arc, my setup is a home theater / golf sim. With the Sonos Arc, if you plan on using it's full capabilities (Atmos), you'll want it in front & below the screen. The Sonos Arc bounces sound up and forward. In my scenario, when I'm hitting golf balls, I'm going to place a small cover over the Arc to protect it in case of an off-hit.

You can definitely place the Arc behind the screen, but the screen will impact the audio performance in my opinion. I'd probably save the cash & get a discounted playbar to accomplish the same goal. The arc is designed to be used in a very specific way. The subwoofer could easily be placed behind the screen, or anyplace in the room. I have 2 One's back behind the sitting area.

If your impact screen is similar to mine, it would probably block too much sound. I experimented with this using a Sonos Playbar. I wasnt very happy with the results. I ended up just installing in ceiling speakers above and slightly in front of the hitting bay. I'm super happy with how that turned out.

What in ceiling speakers did you go with?

I have a pair of Sonos outdoor speakers behind my screen. They sound great. I also have a 5.1 setup for anything coming thru the sim computer. Left, center and right are behind the screen and they sound fine.

are you folks using bluetooth to connect the computer to the stereo for 5.1? I have a extra receiver and speakers doing nothing so curious in how to improve the sound. Using a bluetooth speaker now and half the time it does not connect.

Do sim software encode 5.1? Hard to imagine there’s enough worthwhile discrete sound to justify. I was just going to use L/R speakers in stereo. I’m looking at E6 connect.

I just use a L/R setup with one unplanned bonus - I also get the sound from overhead from the projector. It makes sense but I did not factor that in. Even without the main speakers on, I still here the birds chirping away and the sounds from the ball interaction.

My laptop overrides my projector. Once in a while the projector takes over and sounds fine. Tried Bluetooth speaker and majority of the time the laptop took over even when I made the bluetooth primary speaker. Think I am going old school for the 3.5mm plug in computer speakers. Nothing fancy

Help! I’m in the middle of a build. Trackman 4. I’m a long-time sonos user but the sim is dedicated for golf (not movies). Recommendations? Hard wire? I was thinking of 2 sonos moves behind the hitting area and a sound bar but it sounds like maybe the sound might not be the best?
