Launch monitor options for home simulator for both left and right handed players

I am at the early stages of planning to install a home simulator in a home I am building. Researching at this Forum I learned the importance of choosing one that allow for convenient play by both left and right handed players. My wife hits left-handed and I hit right-handed and we don't want to have to reposition the launch monitor every time one of us wants to hit. Thus, a ceiling-mounted position is apparently our best/only option. I would appreciate any advice from others with experience about good ceiling-mounted monitors. The room will be 28'Lx18'Wx10'H if that helps. Thanks

Do you have a budget? GC Hawk, HD Golf, Uneekor, and About golf all offer overhead solutions. Also, radar could also be another option for allowing for right and left handed play without moving the unit.

At 18 feet wide you can both hit from the same spot. And if you can both hit from the same spot than a Mevo+ can work for you. It sits behind instead of overhead and will cost less than an overhead unit.

Do your research though as the Mevo has some known issues with chipping and putting for sim play so buyer beware. If an overhead unit is within your budget, I would definitely go that route.

That's an awesome size space! You can pretty much do anything you want with that room.

Budget is key and there's a lot of options for you to fit your budget. The Uneekor users on this forum are pretty happy, QED or EYEXO. Since you have a big space, you can certainly make that an entertaining or party room, so if you plan on doing that, I wouldn't recommend radar since it sits on the floor. You don't want people possibly walking into it.

Dax mentioned great overhead options. I'll also add Full Swing to that list.

Sounds like you have a good space to build in. The real question is budget and your capabilities for DIY. Personally, I think your best option and bang for buck is a Uneekor QED or a Uneekor EYEXO ($7k and $10K respectively.) From there you still need to purchase a computer to run your simulator/launch monitor. I would budget around $2K for that. Similarly another $2K-$4K for a Projector that is capable of 4K or Faux-K.

But back to the launch monitor... There are going to be 4/5 options that allow for left and right hitting. Believe it or not you do not need to go ceiling mounted given the amount of space you have.

RADAR Based:
Mevo+ $2K (Some people have been very happy with their Mevo. I'll let others weigh in with their experiences)
Full Swing Kit: $4K, but unfortunately there are no specs on this or any feedback, so I would say unless you are a gambling man, I'd hard pass on this.
FlightScope x3. $25K (No experience there but from what I know this is more of the professional route)
Trackman. (Indoor only $19K + yearly fees)

Camera based ceiling mounted
Uneekor QED $7K (Must use proprietary balls)
Uneekor EYEXO $10K (Can use any ball)
GCHawk $16K (I have no experience with this.)

I think bang for buck QED is the one that I would choose, but its also really not much of a stretch to go with the EYEXO for the extra $3K

Thanks everyone who posted, super helpful! The full dimensions of the space will actually be 48'Lx18'Wx10'H with a media room at one end and the simulator at the other + bar on the side. It will be entertainment zone central:-) I have earmarked 28'L for the simulator to allow plenty of room to play with seating etc. With respect to launch monitor options I wasn't aware there were radar-based options, I will investigate those. Otherwise it sounds like Uneekor may be the way to go.

Something else to consider for that type of room, is some of the units have multi-sport capability like soccer and football. HD Golf and Full Swing have those and GCHawk has only soccer right now but I'm sure they'll add other sports later.

Flightscope X3 is another good option. As a radar device, it's very similar to Trackman, but considerably cheaper at $15K and no annual subscriptions. It's an incredibly powerful tool that will provide insight into every part of your game. Not only is it excellent for simulation and full swings, but it offers data for your short game and putting that some of the other monitors do not. It truly shines outdoors, where the radar can track the entire ball flight for unparalelled accuracy. I would say that if you have any desire to use it outdoors on the golf course in addition to your simulator environment, the X3 is a great option for you.
