Anyone else wear hearing protection in their sims?

I had my son come over to play a couple of simulator rounds. In that enclosed space, his drives were like gun shots. My ears were ringing and I had a slight headache afterwards. Next time he came over, we both wore ear plugs.

    Anyone else do the same?

I do. Golf shots can be dangerously loud in enclosed spaces, especially when hitting driver or fairway metals. The risk of cumulative trauma is a very real concern. I picked up a pair of SureFire earplugs for ~$15 bucks on Amazon, and I’ve been very happy with how they’ve performed. Once this pandemic is over I’ll probably buy a few extra pairs for guests. Slice-a-thons just aren’t as fun if everyone ends up deaf afterwards.

I’ve linked an example of what I’m using.

I have what amounts to a loose white tarp hanging down for solo play. The image isn’t as pretty, but the sound is at least 50% lower.
