  • Help Me Choose, Please!

    Hello Everyone!

I am looking at building out a hitting station to improve my game and practice. I do not have the ability to build a simulator room in my home, or buildout an addition. My initial game plan was to get a good quality net (Net Return or similar), hitting mat, and a GC2. The data would be displayed on an iPad. This setup would be outside (pool deck) and primarily used at night.

    My questions:
What net system would you all recommend? I would need to be able to disassemble periodically as I do not want it to get ruined being in the elements.
Same question for matting, I would want a solid mat that is "movable" since i cannot glue it down.
If i buy used GC2 am I required to get software, or could I use the beta software mentioned here for courses and practice ranges?

I am open to any suggestions you all may have!

I started with this kit from Rukket: https://www.rukket.com/collections/g...rf-hitting-mat assembles and breaks down very easily. Down side from my set-up was I was off-centered when hitting forcing me to only use one side of the net. This caused for excess wear on the one side so I ended up getting two more nets over a period three years. Good part about the Rukket is I was able to flip the net around and use the other side. Now the three nets are hung behind my impact screen to deaden the sound and prolong the life of the screen.

Two part answer on the GC2: you don't need any software to make the GC2 work, but Foresight is reportedly forcing customers to purchase FSX with new and CPO units.

Have you hit any balls at night in your current neighborhood? I think it's louder than people realize and your neighbors won't appreciate the noise.

Talk to your local driving ranges and see if they have any mats they're willing to sell for cheap.

As far as noise, luckily our community is all large acreage so my neighbors are pretty far away.

Par2Pro is still selling (waitlist) CPO GC2 units without a license required, but i am worried without a license all i will have access to all the digital readouts on the GC2 itself.

I am all in favor of the CPO units. I bought a refurbished Skytrak and have had no problems with it. I downloaded the E6 demo software which has one free course (Aviara) and a nice driving range. I like the photometric sims because you can put them where you need them - even in a smaller room. I don't think you could go wrong with either the GC2 or Skyrak. I have used the GC2 quite a bit at the PGA Superstore and the numbers I get from that and Skytrak are very similar.

As far as a mat goes, I bought from this place and have been very happy with it. Several others here have them as well. They are the same mats you'll find at Top Golf.

I bought the "A" grade and it looked brand new. Easy to move but heavy enough that it won't slide around too much when using. Also you can use real tees in it which I prefer.

I have fsx2020 and in my opinion, you’re better off getting it than not. The range is pretty good and gives you a ton of information. If you’re just going to be using for sim use like tgc2019, then yeah probably not worth it to get it.
