Golf Stores Simulator Boosting

Just spent some time at a Golf Galaxy and Dicks while away. The Golf Galaxy had an About sim in one bay and a GC2 in the other bay. The Dicks had a Full Swing with no spin cam. All sims were boosted big time. Driver 320 yards, 3 wood 290. Come on man, that's crazy. I know they want to sell clubs but really. That was with all units. Maybe I have improved but not that much as I have played 4 real rounds while away and don't see anything like that.

Bubba time for you to join the tour. I'm just happy to have something at home to rely on. I wonder how many people take the yardage they see when at places like these to the course and then wonder why am I always short.

At Golf Town I had flat out asked if they had settings boosted on the GC2 and they said no. Was going to hit a driver to test and when they were not standing there I just clicked into the menu and slid the boost back from 4 where it was to zero. He was going on how well I was hitting the SLDR driver and I was getting about 250 plus carry on most shots and then I told him I had reduced the boost back to zero. He did not say too much and as this was going on I could hear the guy in the booth beside saying "wow, you just hit that 300 yds" to the guy hitting there.

What bugs me even more is on TV on the golf channel when they show the numbers on their shots it is always way more than what I would see on the GC2 for carry with similar ball speed and LA.

Yeah I think it's a sleazy way to sell clubs. I've seen it both on a GC2 and some other unit at Dick's (not sure what they were using - this was about 5 years ago). The GC2 I was hitting at Goldsmith was jacked up. All my yardages were up 10% or so. At Dick's, I was hitting driver about 270-275 consistently... anyone who has played with me knows my normal drives are 230 on the low end to maybe 250 (that's with little to no elevation changes). It was a joke.

The trouble is the general public isn't all that knowledgable (or smart?) when trying new clubs. It goes without saying you need to bring your old driver in and hit a batch of balls with it and then the new club to compare the two. It's the only real way to compare and eliminate the wonky stuff they might have done. But yeah...sleazy you have to deal with this type of unethical behaviour, especially when we try to trust the guys in the stores as advisors/consultants.
