So a local guy just did a nice installation of 5 Golfzon bays at his new simulator place. I always wanted to try using these systems primarily because of the moving swing plate. Here are some thoughts.
1st. The sim software looks almost 90% the same as Uneekor's (at least for in-game play)
2nd. Graphics are what I would categorize as OK. It really feels like a video game to me. Trackman feels much more realistic, E6 and TGC similarly feel really good to me as well. That is not to say that I don't like some of the features. I think the green heat map in the upper right corner, and the wind meter is a very nice touch.
3rd. Maybe this is just his installation, but the Golfzon Balls that are used in the sim are on the lower tier of quality. They spin too much on the driver, and not enough on wedges. I verified by taking my TP5X and put it in play and instantly saw reductions in spin off the driver by over 300rpm, distance was also improved, and wedge spin was in line with what i've measured on Trackman.
4th. Accuracy of Putting. Wow... I'm a very poor putter in real life, and my experience with putting on Skytrak has me pulling my hair out most of the time. Trackman has been hit and miss but very accurate when it works. Golfzon was just perfect. I hit some putts that I knew I closed the face on them and the ball ended up exactly where I would expected to. That being said, I tried putting on the green complex and it wasnt reading face angle in its analytics. Not sure if that is an advanced feature or you need stickers.
5th. I didnt see Angle of Attack in the measured metrics
So really I do like the system. Do I like it more than Trackman? Yes and No. Yes because of the dynamic lie system. I think that is a completely different experience. No because of the software feels to arcade game-like, and again, the balls were just not in line with what I would consider a premium sim installation.
One big question I have is this. Is GSK a software company that customizes their base software for ball launch monitor systems like Uneekor, GolfZon, and Bravo? Or are they like a parent company that creates different lines of simulators out there? To my eyes the game play, graphics and pretty much everything about it looked almost dead nuts the same as Uneekor.
