This is putting the Bryson way. You're training yourself to feel a certain distance. IRL you'll have different conditions, uphill/downhill, grain, wet/dry, stimp. I see the value for face training, but I would be worried about speed translating to the real world. No?

I'd say no. Physics is physics. You could putt with a stimpmeter on any green and hit it basically every time once you know where to aim and at what angle to release it.

I mean, the same physics are the reason we knew with certainty we could send three people to an exact spot on the Moon all the way 52 years ago.

I somewhat recently purchased the Exputt and I have to say that I really enjoy it. I understand what you're saying here, but you do have the option to control the speed of the greens on the Exputt. There is a speed gauge that goes from 1 to 13 (or 14).

Also, the practice mode is just simple distance practice, but the other modes give you putts from all random distances, uphill/downhill/left break/right break etc. The challenge mode can get pretty crazy actually with some of the putts it sets you up for. For example: 48'3" length, 6" downhill breaks left first and back right the last 5'.

It seems to be incredibly sensitive also which is great. If your contact is off even a fraction of a degree, you will be missing putts. I can definitely see my putting improving (although it's winter and I haven't been able to see the improvement on a course yet). It's definitely helping with my stroke, contact and speed for sure. I'm getting pretty good at knowing if I holed the putt as soon as I strike it. Plus, being able to practice lag putts up to 50' in your living room is a great perk. I think reading greens in real life though is something that you have to do in real life No sim is going to help with that I don't think.
