Hello everyone! I found this forum recently, and it has been extremely helpful in helping brainstorm my future golf simulator build. I am currently building a new home and plan on having a 16’x23’ garage to house my simulator as well as some workout equipment. The garage will be well insulted with a mini split unit to provide heating/cooling.
The house is still in the design process, and I want to make sure I have everything planned correctly before the build starts. To give some background, I am left-handed, but most of my friends are right handed. Therefore, based on what I have read, an overhead launch monitor is the way to go for convenience when switching between right and left handed. I am 6’2” and have measured my swing with a driver, and 16’ should be sufficient width. I plan to use the simulator as a game improvement tool a few evenings per week but also want to be able to play courses with friends. I have read a few conflicting things, so the following questions are to make sure I have a good understanding.
1) is to correct that the screen should be about 1 foot from the wall?
2) How far from the screen should the overhead projector be? How far off the ground should the projector be?
3) How far from the screen should I plan for the overhead launch monitor? Or asked another way, how far behind the projector should the launch monitor be?
4) What else should I be considering at this stage? Outlets? Lighting? I am thinking of things that will go into the house build that would be much harder to change or install later.
5) The house will not be done for a year, but any thoughts on which Simulators I should research? I will probably buy a kit and may have it installed. I am not handy enough to build my own, and I am fortunate that a have a fairly high budget.
