  • Mevo good enough for what I need?

Hello I'm just getting into a Launch monitor build where I can test multiple shafts and heads to get info and fine tune dispersion, spin.
I can get the original Mevo for $200-250 but hear it guesses spin numbers so will that mess up testing true carry and dispersion compared to say a used Skytrak? I don't want to buy tge original Mevo if the spin numbers and Dispersion are realistic in helping me choose shafts. If I do need the Skytrak is the older models same as new model for stats and stuff after updates? Just wondering if a used Skytrak isn't comparable to say new Skytrak

Crazy how Mevo has no simulator capability.

The answer is “it depends”. How accurate do you want it to be? Mevo can’t measure what you need, it calculates what it believes to be accurate based upon the measurements it does take. If all you care about is a distance number then it will be “close enough”. But if you want launch, spin, dispersion, carry, etc then no. Neither will skytrak either. Skytrak will be closer but it won’t be nearly as accurate as a Mevo+. Which won’t be as accurate as a CG2+HMT, which won’t be quite as accurate as a CGQuad … see how this escalates? You have to decide how close is close enough within your budget.

So you are saying a Skytrak is less accurate than the Mevo+??? Hmmmm...maybe ill have to bypass the Skytrak and go for the Mevo + then. I thought for sure Skytrak was better and more accurate but im new to this

In the right environment and with enough space, probably.

Yeah Mevo+ with the right spacing and no interference is hands down better than a Skytrack. Plus you can take it to the range in better weather.

Well looks like you saved me a mistake off the bat. Going to get the Mevo + then so don't need to sell and start over. THANKS!!

You can see a TON of video comparisons online. Each system has strong points and weak points. Camera systems tend to be more accurate with spin numbers based on the research and comparisons that I have seen. Radar systems seems to be better at flight shape.

Strictly my opinion and interpretation of what I have seen.
