  • Cameras for Foresight Sim-in-A-Box System

I have a Foresight Simulator with a GC Quad. I bought some cameras from the Imaging Source a year ago and finally got around to hooking them up. My 237 fps cameras showed up with FZX as available, but they were Blurry, underexposed and a whopping 10 fps. I am in the process of figuring WTF is wrong.

First - can FZX handle a high speed camera? I mean 10fps is BS for watching a golf swing. If so, where do I straighten this out. I looked in the settings and could not find anything on first check.

Second, do I need to buy specific software for the video analysis? If so, any suggestions. I am trying to reduce the amount of research to come to a reasonable solution. I want to be able to use the high frame rates to see clear stop action for swings - from two angles (face on/down the line).

I have lights in the room - they are causing areas of the video that look like the sun ,and they may be messing with the exposure of the current setup, but the lights would have nothing to do with the frame rate. My lights are face on and down the line - I did not want to mess with the lighting location because the room has a vaulted ceiling that is pretty high up there.

    Thanks for any help!

    Hi Andy,
Do you have them plugged into USB3 ports on your computer??
Did you install the correct drivers?
Surfthing.com sells those cameras and other items for golf simulators. Perhaps I can help trouble shoot this.

Watch this video. This guy's videos are very helpful.
Golf Swing Analyzer Review - The Imaging Source Cameras with FSX 2020 (Foresight Sports) - YouTube

I have these cameras. They work great with FSX 2020. You need lots of light and also need to dial in the exposure, shutter speed, focus, etc.

Actually I was not plugged into USB 3 ports - The ports on the back of the computer are not USB 3 but the ones in the front are USB 3.

I plugged them into the USB 3 ports, and nothing changed. I will see if I can play with them.

Tom Howarth how do you adjust the shutter speed? I will watch the video.

Camera adjustments are done in FSX 2020. The video will show you. I basically copied the settings from the YouTube video and tweaked them a tiny bit and am very happy with the results. The only downside to FSX 2020 swing replay is that it is somewhat limited in replay options but is more than sufficient to get started evaluating your swings. I will likely upgrade to Swing Catalyst at some point.
