Is Sim putting worth it?

I agree that it helps because you're simply doing more practice than you would otherwise...however, putting in the sim for anything longer than 20' has helped improve my outdoor lag putting a ton. Developing a feel for what a 10mph putt is and knowing it translates to roughly 50' outdoors on a 10 stimp green has given me a gauge to calibrate all my lag putting. Without the sim, you would have no way to develop this feel since you wouldn't know how far the putt goes or with what speed.

If sim putting helps you great but most people develop their distance feel on either the putting green or on course. It kind of goes back to the same basic i.e. you have to be able to hit the center of the putter face no matter how hard you are hitting the putt. You can get the same result by putting on a rug and hitting the ball at various speeds at a target until you can make the ball go over the target with center face contact. After that it's just a matter of factoring in slope, grain, wind, state of green mowing etc.. all of which don't translate well to a sim setup.

If you infrequently play green grass golf then sims can help.
