Hi all!
i’m looking for some advice on upgrading my simulator. Currently I have an Optishot2. Looking to get a Skytrak/GC2/GC3. Obviously the price is a factor and trying to keep it as cost efficient as possible. I spoke with someone regarding the GC3 in particular and they said my computer would likely need an upgraded graphics card. More so interested in accurate data than playing courses so I kind of like the idea of the GC3 with just the range for now if my computer could handle it. Not interested in putting at all on it as I built a putting green last year in front of my simulator.
My computer now is a laptop with the following specs:
- Intel(R) Core(TM) i7
- 8 GB
- GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card
I would like to avoid a new computer but also know nothing about computers so if I could just buy and install a new graphics card for not too much I’m not against it. It also seems like there are a lot of launch monitors coming out so I’m not against waiting for a few months.
I spoke with someone regarding the Mevo Plus and they said I would have to build my floor up so the monitor was as high as the area I was hitting from with no gaps, and they said the minisplit could cause interference so it didn’t seem like a doable option sadly.
I also found the minimum specs for FSX 2020 if I went GC3 and it appears my computer meets the minimum requirements:
FSX 2020 v8.2.0.3 System
Requirements:
• Operating System: Windows 7 or greater
(64 Bit Required) Works well with Win 8.1, & 10.
Any input or advice would be great!
