  • Zero Delay Sims

I'm looking to identify simulators that legitimately have zero delay (or like 1ms delay). So far, it seems like HD Golf and Full Swing are the only options. I want to make sure that I'm not missing any.

I've seen the Uneekor youtube videos and they all have a delay, but I can't tell if that's because the system doesn't have a strong enough PC powering it.

Would appreciate any suggestions or videos that show zero delay sims!

Any Foresight product has zero delay: GC2, GC3/BLP or GCQuad.

Uneekor does not have a delay either. Go to Jay's Youtube channel Golf Simulator Videos. He uses an EyeXO all the time and you can see there is no delay.

joefrank25 what is the reason you want zero delay? 1ms isn't even detectable by the human eye. Even the fastest gaming monitors are ~1ms refresh rate. Golf sims inherently have much more delay because it's a long signal and data processing path from impact of ball to seeing the image on the screen.

I agree with what the others have said. I have a Uneekor Eyexo and Bushnell Launch Pro and both have "zero" delay. All LMs and simulators have some delay, but quantifying is a bit difficult. The Eyexo and BLP have no noticeable delay which is why I said "zero" in quotes. The only LMs I know that have noticeable delay are Skytrak and Trackman (Trackman only when using driving range).

COgolfengineer I have visited a few sites with and without delays and the difference is HUGE. The zero delay really makes it feel like you're playing golf. I realize that "zero" is probably under 50ms, but you're right, the human eye doesn't notice it.

I was looking at the GCQuad videos and definitely notice a slight delay - maybe 300ms, but it's noticeable (example: https://youtu.be/17cK65gFsi4?t=1503).

It really looks like the Uneekor Eye XO also has a noticeable delay: (example: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/G8PzCqvpXPk)

The full swing legit has very minimal delay: (example: https://youtu.be/ydl1Kn4nCvA?t=6)

Joegolfguy I'll check out the WIZ-I - thanks!

When you say visited a few sites, do you mean just watching online videos and not actually visiting various golf sims? If watching videos, I'd take that with a grain of salt. Feeling the delay while hitting a ball is far different. Meaning with my Eyexo and BLP, the ball is launched on the screen well before I even complete my swing. To me, whether that delay is 1ms or 500ms, that feels like "zero" delay when talking golf swing.

In the gcquad video, I don't see any delay. In the Eyexo video, I do notice a very small delay. That was with Uneekor's Refine software which I've never used. It feels much shorter with the software I use (GSpro, TGC, Creative Golf, E6). The Full Swing video is a promo video made by Full Swing and not an unbiased source, so can't really trust that.

The Wiz-I doesn't measure ball spin, so that would be out for me even if the delay is exactly 0.

What exactly are you looking for in a golf sim? There's far more important things than shaving off ms of delay. Accuracy is far more important. Software compatibility is also important. Cost is a big factor. A Full Swing setup costs close to $100k and you're locked to their software which really sucks.

After the recent firmware update for WIZ-I it now comes with enhanced spin measurement

When you’re the one hitting balls, it takes more than 300ms to turn your head to the target to start following the ball. So the *practical delay* is much less than watching a YouTube video of someone else hitting a ball.

Not to mention, when there’s ball data, club data, a video of your swing— I find myself looking at all of that initially (and guessing my shot shape, toe/heel contact, etc) before looking at the actual ball flight.

Within the Foresight software, there is a "wait for spin" setting where the shot is displayed instantly when turned off. Ball flight starts out dead straight and will be adjusted mid-flight after the spin is measured.

When the option is turned on there is a slight delay while the spin is being measured before the shot is displayed.

Thanks COgolfengineer. Good feedback. I've actually gone to see Full Swing and HD Gold in person and I definitely noticed a difference compared to Trackman. Totally appreciate that there are more important things than the delay - that's just what I'm focused on initially because for whatever reason, it's what I like. I get that paying $100k to get locked into a system stinks, which is why I'm trying to figure out if I can build this myself with components and achieve no delay.

and davidepope good feedback on being the one hitting vs watching on YouTube! I'm hoping to physically play whatever I purchase ahead of time.

To each their own. After you get past the delay of the SkyTrak (so something in the BLP, Foresight, or Uneekor lines), I would not jump to a higher tier LM just for the sake of reducing delay. There are so many more important things to focus on. If money isn’t a factor, go nuts. However, most people have some sort of budget in mind and the rest of your dollars are better spent on the other components that makeup your sim setup.

                        Hi JoeFrank25

ProTee's new launch monitor, the VX, will also have zero delay among many other great features. If you are looking for a high-quality, zero-delay ceiling launch monitor which is more affordable, then the VX may be the system for you.

Learn more about the system at proteelaunchmonitors.com

If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them!
