  • Commercial Golf Simulator

    Hello Everyone,

New to the forms but have been playing with simulators for a long time now.

I own a bar and I’m looking to make it a simulator bar moving forward.

in really torn between the Uneekor and Trackman.

Trackman’s software offers easy to manage leagues on the back end and even allows for local sponsorships within the game.

I was wondering how that would work with a Uneekor running TGC 19 or GSPro in a commercial setting. Is there anyone with experience running a commercial set up with a Uneekor and TGC or GSPro and how do you manage league play, handicaps (strokes) and memberships within the games themselves?

Someone sell me on this other than the Trackman rep that’s calls me daily.

One sits on the floor and one is mounted on the ceiling. For a bar, it could be as simple as that. Also, while I would probably align with TM being a superior product overall, for indoor use they are (IMHO) fairly close - certainly close enough for anyone playing golf over a couple of pops with friends!

    My two cents,

I think a lot depends on the type of bar you own. Jason motioned the floor/ceiling mount options. I'm picturing a trackman sitting on the floor in a bar setting and visions of Patrick Swayze in "Road House " come to mind! I can't comment on software options, but I'd vote for a ceiling mount.

RocLinksLounge I'm not a fan of Trackman but can see the appeal in a commercial setting. I went to a facility near me once and they didn't have RCT balls or the metallic stickers that I could put on my ball. So total spin was way off. Since I have a sim at home, it sucks to hit on a TM with estimated spin. Even without estimated, spin axis can be far off, but in a bar commercial setting, probably not a big deal. I hate their software for course gameplay. The course moves in a very weird way when your ball has curve to it. Plus their software is $1000/yr or something like that, per TM unit? Seems expensive.

I know there are a lot of commercial facilities that use Eyexo and GSpro. You could even do QED and GSpro. Benefit of QED is that it sits behind the tee so less likely to get hit compared to the Eyexo being in front of the tee. But getting a shield for the Eyexo is cheap. GSpro has an online tour setup with SGT (Simulator Golf Tour). SGT has a commercial setup as well called Clubs. I would check that out. There's a lot of facilities using that. I imagine this route will save you a lot of upfront cost as well as recurring costs. Plus you'll get more accurate spin data than TM. And having the video replay of impact with the Uneekor, people will love to see that! ANd you can even sell club stickers to people who want to see the club data. If I was building a sim facility, I would do Eyexo or QED with GSpro and SGT Club.

As the others have mentioned. I would also much rather have a ceiling mounted LM than something on the floor. You never have to worry about alignment with the ceiling LM, and much harder to steal if it's on the ceiling. There's ways around this with a floor LM, but still more of a hassle.

As a former restaurant/bar owner, i would definitely lean towards a secure ceiling mounted option! If you have owned your bar for any amount of time, you know by now that unfortunately there are people in this world that don't respect property, furnishings, etc. On a similar note, I think it's equally important to consider how rugged and secure the PC or tablet interface will be for your installation. e.g., can it shrug off liquid spills and handle other customer abuse?

Not a bar owner, never would be. But have been in plenty of them, up until closing time. And the witching hour and beyond would scare me with a floor based LM.

You would be absolutely insane to use Trackman. Uneekor EyeXO is where you want to be. I don't see a downside with Uneekor and GSPro. Or TGC2019 if that suits your fancy. Or just get both and let the customer decide.

I would not know how to manage handicaps, etc.. other than having the serious players join the Simulator Golf Tour ($80/year) and that could manage all handicaps for you. A one-off customer who is just goofing around wouldn't want to be bothered with handicaps or leagues.

And of course TM is calling you every day. That is how they are trying to make money - in the commercial space so you pay their ridiculous $1,000/year hardware fee, and $1,000/year software fee. For a system that sucks indoors. The home sim market they are a very minor player, which just kills them.

              Hi RocLinksLounge,

Have you considered ProTee United's New VX ceiling-mounted Launch Monitor? Sleek design, is easy to use and has great accuracy, but for a way lower price! The VX is compatible with TGC 2019, E6 Connect and GSpro, does not require club or ball stickers/markers and does not require a protective case. It is one of the most anticipated launch monitors which was shown at the PGA show and we have just released it! For more information on the system, feel free to check out https://proteelaunchmonitors.com/ or contact us at salessupport@protee-united.com
