I am sure this has been discussed but I didn't find it....

I recently bought an Optishot 2 setup (fortunately cheap) and I am not a fan of it. It doesn't read my clubs and when it does, it is not accurate. I knew this was a entry level "toy" before I bought it. But I was just looking for something to get some swings in and keep the back loose. I am not a great golfer (18 handicap) but I think the Optishot has made my swing worse, if that is possible.

I don't have much space in my garage so I didn't want to invest a ton into this. But I think I might want to upgrade the Optishot. What is the Hierarchy of simulators? It seems like the next step up would be the R10 or Skytrack?? I don't really want to have to pay a subscription as this is just to keep the swing loose. I don't see myself playing a round of golf with it.

If buying used, what would the next best model be? What are things I should look for and look out for?

A lot depends on the 2 basic choices, radar or camera based. Skytrack at the lower end of camera based and a number of radars at sub 1000 $ I have a r10 for sale if you go that route.

From what I have read (so far) is that the radar based needs a bit of space and doesn't like being in a garage with other wifi/bluetooth around. I don't think I have the space for the R10.

Looks like a used skytrack would be cheapest option. Seen some for under 1000$ . Not sure what data is available without a subscription though, others might know.

I totally agree with you PD I had an optishot before I got my skytrack. and my swing on the course was horrible.

The skytrack is definitely worth the investment, but if you are looking for a cheaper alternative then I recommend checking out this blog I found on it.

It goes over the pros and cons of the most popular simulators that are out there.

and do not worry most of them are pretty budget-friendly

Here is the link if you want to check it out: https://www.fairwayhq.com/best-golf-simulator-for-home/

I hope this really helps you PD

If you’re not planning on actually using it for simulation, a much cheaper option would be to just get a regular launch monitor. Would still give you decent stats and you can get them for a few hundred. Rapsodo is $300 on Amazon.
