  • Bushnell launch pro

Thinking about the Bushnell launch pro vs sky track. Not sure I will need the club data so could get into the BLP for $1999, vs $2699 for sky trak. It looks like they have recently changed the subscription for BLP to yearly $500 to get access to sim and practice features vs around $250 yearly for sky trak I mainly want for practice, but would probably use sim features some. Almost exclusively indoors. It seems with the new Bushnell pricing, the BLP is the better deal. Wanted to get others opinions. Thanks

    Hello!

I would probably go with the SkyTrak+. You will have a wider range of third party softwares you can add to that system, especially if you wanted a wider selection of golf courses to play.

If your just going to use the driving range the Bushnell Launch Pro would be a good choice too.

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Best,
    Jake

I have the Bushnell Launch Pro and it is an outstanding device for sure it’s one of the most accurate devices on the market.

I used to have the Skytrak. It was ok. Just ok. The shot data was not nearly as reliable as the Bushnell. The delay in shot being shown is purely painful. I can’t speak to the new + model. Are you considering the old product or the new + model? My advice is do not go with the old skytrak version. It doesn’t have the ability to measure club data and the estimates it provides are mediocre. It also has problems picking up different shot types (Driver, flop shots, putting). . .missed shots happen way more frequently than they should and because of the delay, you wait with anticipation to see the shot and when it doesn’t show then you realize it missed the shot.

With the Bushnell, I only use their basic package for that launch monitor because it’s primarily used outside for my setup (I have a Uneekor for my in-home simulator). On occasion I will setup the Bushnell in my sim just because there is one data point it provides which Uneekor does not…I like to see angle of attack when I am working on driver.

For taking to the driving range or course, the BLPdisplays the most critical data right on the screen after each shot. I find that to be super convenient on the range (or on the course when practicing). It’s a total PITA to use an app to see shot data when you are actually playing a practice round. Yes. You could mess with bringing another mobile device to see the data if you want…but really nice to be able to just bring the launch monitor, set it down and start hitting shots without messing with any other devices.

For gaming, I really can’t speak to the FSX Play since I don’t use it. However, you could go with GS Pro as the simulator software and it’s a great app. They have some amazing courses and the ball flight is really realistic. It only costs about $250 per year for that subscription (but you also have to get the BLP Gold subscription). It’s probably worth the $250 per year just to have access to Augusta National.

I was looking at the Skytrak plus, that's probably one of my major questions is how much of an upgrade is it over the old Skytrak. In looking into things, I definitely would not want the old Skytrak, as it appears to miss quite a few shots, and the side spin wasn't terribly accurate. Trying to get more info on the new Skytrak plus. Thanks for the info.

For accuracy the BLP cannot be beat. I have been able to compare it to both a trackman and a GC Quad…as well as my Uneekor and the original Skytrak. For Accuracy, the BLP is as good as they come. I have even had it on the course and been able to hit shots and then compare actual carry distance to what the BLP said…it was incredibly accurate.

The old skytrak was a good device. I used mine for a couple years. It was a terrible experience trying to play actual courses with that device because every time you hit a shot the delay in showing the shot left you on edge with “did it get it”. Then it was a terrible experience hitting shots like flop shots. It was not good on the driver. Putting was a nightmare. I grew so tired of trying to find the exact right place to put the ball (because the spot it identified would not work at all for some shots). That being said, for just hitting on the range the delay wasn’t nearly as bad.

Just a couple things to note, the original skytrak didn’t have the ability to provide club data. So even if you aren’t starting with the club data for Bushnell, there’s nothing that would prevent you from adding it later. With the original Skytrak that’s never an option. Also, if you were just hitting into a net, the delay isn’t that big of a deal. You would hit the shot, then turn to the monitor to see the shot data and by the time you hit the shot, and then turn your focus to the monitor, you would see the shot. In that situation, the delay didn’t matter. In fact, I often went into the sim and didn’t turn on the projector. I would just use it as a net because it made the delay less frustrating.

Good luck. Keep us posted with what you decide.

Ended up going with the Launch Pro. Golfers Journal offers 20% off the club/ball enabled device which knocks the price down to the same as Mevo. At that price it seemed like a no brainer, it arrives today. Hope to get it up and running by Thanksgiving. Thanks for the help.
