  • New Golf Simulator

    Hi Everyone,

I am looking at opening a somewhat commercial golf simulator. Idea is that you'll be able to book teetimes and get access to the simulator.
So it will have to be easy to use.

As there will be right and left handed players it will have to be a ceiling mounted system.

    Which has narrowed me down to these three;

    GC Hawk
    TruGolf Apogee
Uneekor Eye XO(2) (favorite because of the swing cameras and trouble mats you can add)

any suggestions which one would be best? Or any models not listed above?

Software will either be E6 Connect or GSPro as they have best graphics and ball physics.
Tending towards E6 with prospect to upgrade to the new Apex Software once its launched.

Thank you all for your thoughts

I've had my Eye XO2 for a month. I fell it is very accurate. The hitting area is huge and I pair it with GSPro which is great. Love the setup.

got to check out the new PROTEE VX. At 6500 its a game changer. complete club and ball data, instant feedback, no marking balls/clubs, integrates with TGC or GS pro, RH/LH. go to golfsimulatorsite.com

I have the Uneekor QED and I am seriously thinking about selling the QED and move to the Protee VX. I have a few concerns about making the switch:
        1. Uneekor is incredibly accurate. I have tested against Trackman, GC Quad, Bushnell Launch Pro…it’s really good.
        2. I have concerns because Protee has made no changes to TGC 2019 and its gotten to the point I recently changed to GS Pro simply because I can’t stand the first bounce problem on TGC. The fact this problem has been around so long makes me have doubts if Protee will actually continue to update and upgrade the VX.

I would recommend if your budget is in the range for the GC Hawk why not get the best overhead device.

People have been saying that something new is coming in a few weeks that is "game changing". I am a bit suspicious though because of the bias toward certain brands people hold that have mentioned it. I would definitely look at the Protee VX as well, for half the price of the eye XO2. If it is close to the Eye XO's it is a game changer itself for the price. Reps in other groups seem to be trying to steer people away from it. I think they are very threatened about its potential. Some mods are even removing posts about it, which just makes me think it must be very good.

What does the GC Hawk give you that the Protee VX or Uneekor EyeXO2 doesn’t?

Everyone compares data to Foresight devices. if, you have the budget to even consider the GC hawk why not buy the devices people compare to. You are not second guessing the accuracy you know you have the best device.

Hawk has a slightly bigger hitting area but a dead spot in the center (+/- about 8" IIRC). Good if you have limited width available (Min 12 feet) as you hit from an offset position. Hawk has other sports modes - soccer for sure, not sure what else. Hawk cameras capture video at higher frame rates (20K FPS on Hawk vs approx. 3K on Eye XO2 (unsure of the newer VX) - there is some disagreement about whether or not launch angle, attack angle, dynamic lie angle, spin axis etc. are measured or calculated on Eye XO2, how accurate these calculations are vs measurements in Hawk and/or even if the are available as displayed metrics.

That said, Eye XO2 and VX are much (MUCH) less expensive than is GC Hawk, and for 95% of folks probably everything you need. Also (anecdotally from many users) just as accurate as Hawk. And, you are not required to use or tied to the FSX sphere and course costs.

If I were doing it again I think I would land at either Eye XO2 or VX (not as familiar with it but it seems very interesting). For me the Hawk dead center in the middle was actually a disadvantage given my center hitting combo mat so I went with Quad but this decision predated the newer products.

I guess even the device that every-one measures against has its own issues.

Like most things it is a balancing act between needs and wants.
