  • Which swing camera is best??

Hello, I'm in the process of building my new sim room and wondering which cameras to purchase. I don't an have issue paying for best quality, im thinking uneekor swing optix or swing catalyst. I have the Uneekor eyexo2 launch monitor but wondering if there cameras are best. appreciate your feedback.

What software do you intend to use for swing analysis? I see you mentioned swing catalyst, which I have, I bought GigE cameras with the system and like them a lot.

im not to sure on software, i plan on using GSpro. would this be used for swing analysis as well or is there additional software needed?

If you have Uneekor (I have EYEXO), then a pair of Swing Optix cameras is hard to beat.

Automatic replay of your swing from face-on and DTL in a separate window in one of three speeds. Ability to replay frame-by-frame, draw lines, compare swings, export swings. Live view acts like a mirror so you can easiliy rehearse your swing and see both views live with very little lag.

I keep the Swing Optix window with launch data directly in front of me (TV1), with a second window showing path and face data (TV2), then GsPro on my projector for showing the ball flight. All setup with VoiceAttack so I can voice control the replay of swings.

My only suggestion is to purchase a second zoom lens from Uneekor for an extra $50 (the pair of cameras comes with one zoom lens and one wide angle lens, if I recall correctly). By swapping in a second zoom lens, it was much easier to dial in the size of the face-on vs. DTL views so they are the same. Also, go search for the gungho golf article on lighting, and PM if you want some specific details on optimum spotlight placement.

Thanks David. Ok, sounds like swing optix is the way to go, do you also have the performance package with balance? Is it easy to export videos to send to golf instructor? if you have specific with lighting that would be amazing. Thanks!

Old thread, but dropping an answer that might help anyone landing here in 2026.

On the software side: GSPro itself doesn't include any swing camera functionality, so you'll need separate software regardless of which camera you buy, especially if you want GSPro data paired with your swing videos.

        - SwingNerds: this is what I built (full disclosure). Free Windows app, super simple to setup (less than 5 mins), plugs into any USB camera, auto-detects each swing in the bay and pairs the clip with the corresponding GSPro shot. Body pose tracking + AI swing analysis + video compare + drawing tools all built in. Free local-only tier; cloud sync is $5/mo.

On exporting to your instructor: easiest path is a one-click public share link of the swing video. No file export, no email attachment, your instructor opens it in any browser. Has full playback controls and even Body Tracking with angles throughout the swing (here's an example: https://app.swingnerds.com/share/0J9...Q?ref=bjvx387d) If you're going DIY with OBS/Kinovea, you'll be exporting MP4s and uploading them yourself.

On lighting: the practical answer for most sim bays is enough overhead LED to read clearly without overheating the room. A 120 fps color camera needs noticeably more light than a 60 fps one. If your bay is dim, monochrome cameras are 2-3x more light-sensitive and pair well with invisible IR LEDs that don't affect your projector screen. There's a longer breakdown of lighting + frame rate tradeoffs in the SwingNerds buyer's guide here: https://swingnerds.com/blog/golf-swi...s-buyers-guide

Hope that helps! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want a trial extension or anything!
