Why are the distances a lot shorter in the simulator than at the driving range? I am seeing a 15 - 20 yard difference especially on the longer clubs
I have the SkyTrak plus

Environment(wind, other factors), reduced spin from range balls, damage to covers of range balls, indoor swing syndrome and the list goes on. Carry is just three metrics in order of importance ball speed, vertical launch angle, spin.
Your launch monitor is very accurate with carry distances as are most launch monitors given the environmental settings are comparable i.e. altitude/pressure, temperature, and humidity. No launch monitor is as accurate with total distance as it is with carry. There are too many variables with total distance to be accurate.
Just make sure you’re comparing apples to apples. Unless you are bringing it to the range you’re perceiving total distance and comparing it to carry.
I’m comparing carry distance only. In the simulator I use Chrome soft balls which should go further than range balls. I believe the average is about 6% less with range balls. My clubs are PXG gen 6. The problem seems to the longer irons and woods. The sand wedge seem to be spot on as well as the 9 and 8 but then distance starts dropping off from there. I have it leveled and align. Could I have a faulty unit?
Range balls can be longer than a tour urethane ball. Remember it’s just ball speed, launch angle, and spin. If you’re spinning a range ball 1k less and launching it higher it will absolutely carry farther. It really is simple physics and there is no magic. I highly doubt your launch monitor is faulty like less than a .1% chance. We get this question once a week. Just curious how you are getting an accurate carry number at the range?
As mentioned above it sounds a lot like indoor swing syndrome. If you Google it it is a very common issue for people who aren't used to swinging indoors, especially with longer clubs. Compare the driver swing/ball speed indoor vs outside and you might confirm ISS.
My brother has a brunnel range finder to mark the distance at the range. I guess I will have to take it to the range to truly test it which will defeat the reason why I got it in the first place
