Build-out and reconstruct of workout room for Pro-tee golf simulator

I am starting my build out for my sim. I have been reading and researching setups, equipment, computers etc. to prepare for this. I am taking a room and removing/moving a wall to open up space to fit the simulator. I will post the progress as it goes along. My space will be 15'x27x9'4" high after raising the floor to sensor height.

My specs are as follows.

Pro-tee Base system 2 from Par2pro using Pro-tee 14x10 screen (14x9 used)
Acer Predator AG3-605-UR11 Gaming Desktop with

• Intel Core i7-4790 Processor (3.6 GHz)
• 16 GB DDR3 RAM
• 1 TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive, 256 GB Solid State Drive
• NVIDIA GeForce GTX970 Graphics with 4GB of Discrete Video Memory

The current room is 12x20 and we have moved the wall to get new size. Here are a few pics and designs before we started..

Where we are right now. The wall was cut out and moved with the help of an engine lift. It was about a foot longer than needed. It turned out well.

We are getting there. I have to travel this week so this is where it will be for a while. Protee is installed on the computer, Projector tested. Next step is to prepare and build the hitting platform. I am going to build a 5'6"x10' platform and cover it with turf evolutions, luxury spring green.

That's looking great so far, always awesome seeing how people's builds come together. It's quite the process but I'm sure will be super gratifying in the end. Keep up the good work!

Thank you Ironstrokes. This project is a labor of love, for golf, for my kids for my sanity. I love golf but up in Idaho we do not get to golf year round. This will allow me to do that. 3 of my kids golf, one on a junior pga team that is going to the regional championships next week. If they win, they go to the national championships. He is a golf nut and would hit 200 balls everyday if I let him. One daughter will be on a high school golf team next year. My 10 y/o will follow in his brother's footsteps. I have a foursome anytime I need one. Best of all when I asked my wife about what she thought, she was all in. She did not even ask how much $$. I will return to constructing next week.

Tonight I will finish painting and wiring in the overhead lights and camera. Tomorrow the screen.

I am getting there. Screen done. Floor done. Surround completed next the carpet gets glued and stance mat placed. We have been playing the sim in between construction. After we complete the carpet tonight, we will dial in the cameras. Very excited to complete the project soon!!

The hard work is done. After just five weeks from planning to build out, I am happy with the results. I was able to get all wiring in the rafters above the ceiling for a clean look. I had to get a longer usb to mini plug that came with the HCAM. With the use of a powered usb 3.o hub I could go longer than the recommended length of cable. Worked great from the start.

Next, time to dial in the settings. I am sure that I will have many questions for that. I have printed many of the posts about tweaking the settings , installing cameras and will apply Zmax's settings. Wish me luck.

Now I am off to The Coeur d'Alene resort for the final day of the season (on the real course). Octoberfest day. I play this coursed almost weekly, sometimes more. I am only about 50% making it to the floating green in one. Today it will probably be 180 yds or better to reach it from the white tees. As the lake level drops, they move it out more. Should be a fun day.

This winter I will be able to play it as well.

Wow, it definitely pulled all together amazingly! Looks professionally done. Great job. I gotta try that course one day too, at least on the sim once skytrak gets going with it, it looks real fun. You got a perfect set up with your family loving golf as much (or almost as much haha) as you do, makes it all worth it that much more. Good golfing!

Thanks guys. I have played with optishot and I have a flightscope KUDU. (now broken) that were used in the barn into a net and were run on a laptop. Being motivated to keep playing without playing a round was tough. Now with kids to play golf with, this setup opens many new opportunities.


BTW, I lipped out my birdie putt on the Floating green. Made par to finish the round. Beautiful day but bad golf. 41 on the front and 56 on the back. 97 total. My handicap is 19.
