  • Connecting all the devices

    Hi,

I am designing my home golf/ cinema setup and hoping to get some assistance connecting it all. Below are my devices and information on what I want each to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
    • Launch Monitor - GC Quad
    • PC
    • Touchscreen
    • Projector
    • Xbox
    • Sonos Sound Bar

    PC:
    • connected to the projector for golf - main purpose
    • ability to play through the Sonos

    Touchscreen:
    • act as a second monitor for the PC
    • Act standalone as a smart tv to watch movies and sport
    • Ability to connect to projector to show movies and sport on that
    • be able to connect to the Sonos for sound

    Xbox:
    • ability to connect to the projector
    • ability to connect to the touchscreen

    Projector:
    • connected to Xbox
    • connected to touch screen
    • connected to PC

    Sonos:
    • be able to play music around the room from phone or PC
    • be able to play sounds from the touchscreen, for example, sports whilst the projector is playing golf
    • be able to play the sounds from the PC for the golf experience
    • be able to play the sounds from the games on Xbox

It sounds like you should buy an AV receiver. You can set up a receiver to act as a gateway to both your projector and sound system, and then switch between your input options (PC/Xbox/Aux) as needed.

MR Grundle - did you figure out how to make all the connections? Did you have to do anything unique? I have a similar set up and have to switch cables when changing to xbox so looking to upgrade to make it more convenient.

An AV receiver is going to be the way to go here. I've used the Onkyo TX-NR646 in my setup for the las 7 years and it has worked great. My current setup consists of a 4k projector, a 32" pc monitor, and 4 55"+ TV screens. The AV receiver has inputs for the PC and the Xbox (and up to 5 other devices), and since this receiver has two video outputs the first is connected to the projector and the sub is connected to TV1. The PC has 4 video outputs: 1:AV Receiver, 2:32" monitor, 3:TV2, 4: HDMI splitter that goes to TV2 and TV3.

The PC acts as the control station for the most part. I think you'd be able to connect your setup similar to mine. You might need some display port > hdmi cables depending on the type of video outputs on your PC. If your Sonos bar has multiple inputs, you might be able to use it as a receiver. If not, it might be worth investing in one. And you might be able to connect your touchscreen to both the PC and the AV receiver if the touchscreen has multiple outputs.

Have a similar issue I believe.

          Wanting to connect following items to BenqLk936ST;

          HDMI to CPU
          HDMI 4k Firestick
          HDMI to sonos amp

Benq only has (2) HDMI inputs. Bought a HDMI to Displayport adapter to run either Firestick or Golf Sim off of and projector would not read either. Is the issue I am not connecting the same cable to the Displayport on the CPU end?

Curious what everyone is using for audio if you are using your sim set up for TV/Movie viewing.

          Thanks
