  • Can I build it? or am grasping at straws?

    Hi all,

I'm new here, I just found this forums while searching for answers.

I'm in Ireland, and I'm hoping to open a new business in my local area for Indoor Golf.

The rental spaces are limited and the one thats in my budget and area is an odd shape.

I've decided to use the Protee VX, I was reading on their site that there is no minimum distance needed from the screen. I've attached an overhead mock up of my hopeful build.

The red box is the Protee VX, here are the distances.

Screen is 30cm/1 foot from rear wall.
    Protee is 100cm/3.3feet from Screen
Tee is 2 meters from screen and 1 meter from protee
Table/seats are 2 meters from tee.

    Could I do this?

I was in my local range and they have a standing area 2 meters behind the tee and it's fine, you are no where near getting hit.

I need space for people to stand / sit / walk, etc.

My total depth of the bay area is 6 meters at the very end (smallest) - and it goes to 6.3meters for most of the bays. So it would give me 2meters to 2.3 meters for people to sit/walk etc.

I know there are recommendations, I've read all those, I know people will say you need 5/6 meters etc. But I'm more asking has anyone done this, and why do you really need 5-6 meters? I really feel 4 meters from screen to seating is enough.

    Thank you.

Isn't the biggest problem in what you mocked up that you only have 6.5 feet from tee to screen? It would feel weird hitting that close. 10ft seems to be the standard which also gives the golfer a good reference number for measuring a putt. I've never seen a screen at a pay to play facility that close.

      Thanks for your reply.

This is my full space for the golf sims I have other space for toilets / small office/ reception etc. but this is the only part the sims can go in.
Do you think I could fit 4 in ?

So I rethought this, I moved the tee to 8 feet and added a 5th bay.
The tables I added won't always be there, We'll only move those in if we've a few book booked.

Its too tight for customers to feel comfortable. If it was a personal space only it is completely doable. Commercial space - I think you are running uphill.

I think I found a way that works, I've made more room by moving the reception desk. This version I'm liking the most.
