  • Invested into a Foresight system - options?!

    Hi Folks,

I used to be a regular around here... but haven't posted for a while.
The truth is, I fell out of love with golf - mainly due to an injury, and my game going down the toilet a bit.
It's getting back on track now, and I spent the last week or so clearing out my garage in order to turn it back into a sim room.
This is my latest build: https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...th-sportscreen

Anyway, not only had my Stewart Golf Q-Follow trolley's battery completely died in my time off golf, but so has that of my GC2.
Arguably, it doesn't make a big difference, as when I play FSX Play, I need to plug in a USB cable anyway... so having a power cable running along side it isn't a huge deal.
I've also found a company in the UK that will rebuild the GC2 battery for me for £75, so a relatively cheap fix.

Over the last few days I've spent time looking on the site at some of the newer launch monitors, and am wondering - should I be upgrading?
I have the GC2 / HMT, FSX Play, and about 50 courses I've purchased. I feel like I've poured so much money into the Foresight software, that it's be silly to buy something else. The GC Quad was the gold standard for launch monitors, and now they have the Quad MAX. Foresight's hardware is amazing... but is definitely excessively priced compared to some of the others.

Should I be looking at a non Foresight option and starting again? If so, which direction should I be heading? I have TGC and FSX, and have always preferred FSX due to it feeling less like a 'game'. Personal preference I guess.

I have the offer from a local PGA Pro to buy their barely used GC Quad for a little under £10k - which would come with a laptop / FSX2020 on it.
In theory, I could then sell on my GC2 / HMT + accessories with this laptop / FSX and potentially get a decent return on it... so my upgrade would potentially be around £5k (assuming I can get £5k for my current kit + the laptop... which I think seems realistic based on recent ebay sales?).

I guess my other question is should I even consider buying a GC Quad when the Quad MAX is now out? Although Foresight are still selling the GCQ, they're offering trade in deals... so I imagine the GCQ will come obsolete in a couple of years. I remember them doing this with the GC2 / HMT for a while before they killed it off.

Or should I just get my battery rebuilt, and carry on with the GC2 / HMT? I'm not really gaining much from the upgrade... slightly more accurate data (not that'd I'd ever notice!), 2 mins quicker to set up when I take it out, and a larger hitting zone. Wifi connection to my PC would be good, as it'd eliminate any cables. Apart from that - it could be an unnecessary expense for very little?
Working...
