  • Looking for help on a sim in a smaller than ideal width

Asking for a little support in narrowing down what I should be looking for. Currently not restricted to any budget but want to keep is reasonable for a garage sim. Maybe $10-15K tops all-in? The budget also depends on the amount of use I can get out of this room, if lefties or tall people cannot play I may be unwilling to spend as much.

First off, I am an avid golfer and love golf data. I love to practice and think I would use a sim a lot.
    Mid single digit hdcp golfer

I have a additional single car garage (which is currently set up as a gym) which I would dedicate to this. Not need to be able to remove or lift up to make room for a car

    The room dimensions are:

Depth: 20 feet from wall to garage door.

There is a hallway leading to the house the first 4 feet so the solid wall is 16 feet. The final 3 feet has a small step up of about 3”. I most likely will wall off the hallway and put a door in to make it a separate room.

Height 10 feet. I have a garage door in there currently but am already looking to either raise this and getting a side mount motor.

Width: 10 feet. I think this is my limiting factor

I am 5’10 and right-handed but the buddies who would use this are all over 6’3” and one is left handed.

I have inquired with a few turn key companies and they think the foresight falcon would be best do to the size but not sure if I want to spend $15K on a the launch monitor alone. It also states it need to be hung 10-11 feet from the ground and it would be closer to 9' probably at best. If I am going to spend that much, I might want one I can take to the range as well.

What ideas have you seen successful with such a small width?

    Budget est.
    Garage Door lift/new motor - $2,000

    Installing a new wall/door - $1,000
Simulator Package - Garmin Approach R50 (Issue is the width is 10'10") - $8,600

    Garmin R50
    SigPro Screen
    Projector
    Simulator Studio
    Mini-Split (Air Conditioning/Heater) - $500-1,000 (I work for HVAC so maybe cheaper)
    Gaming Computer $1,500
    All in - $14,100
    Is that reasonable?

My sim is the same size in my tandem garage bay. Falcon could work but still might be a bit tight. I recommend 7.5ft from left wall to ball for a righty, so you'd be hitting 2.5ft off-center which is the max limit for Falcon. But as you mentioned, that's your total budget right there. You can put an overhead on a slide rail and slide it to the different hitting areas. A manual slider is cheap, around $100. Motorized ones are pricey but it's easy to manually move. Or you get a floor LM and move it to the different hitting areas, many people do that.

I own a sim business and can help with all this stuff. I sell everything you need for a sim and have helped many people here. I offer bundled discounts and typically save you sales tax as well. Can DM me or send me an email.

With a 10ft width, you won't get both lefty's and righty's in the same room as the hitting locations will be too far apart for launch monitors.

I'd still go ahead with the build, but it'll be a right-handed sim only - I'd strongly recommend getting the ProTee VX for the launch monitor - it'll work just fine with your ceiling heights and is crazy accurate for the price, no need for a Falcon at all.
