  • GCQuad or EyeX02 for my SIM Situation

Long time since I have been on forum in previous setup but finally bought a house that has an extra room big enough to build an indoor sim. Previous one has been in the garages of the houses I have owned, so only so nice and looking to build an integrated SIM that has a premium look.

Even though I want to build an integrated one, I am worried about portability of it (new houses in future), so I have been torn between the Eye X02 and the GCQuad. I have a GC2 with FX2020 and TGC2019 already, bought and paid for - have a few courses on FX2020 but mostly play TGC courses but I do like the driving range on FX2020.

I had started with the idea of the Uneekor, I have a friend that has one and seems to work well, has a really low latency compared to my GC2 (impact to screen display) and I like that its ceiling mounted. However, I only have 9ft ceilings (exactly) and am going to be using a Fiberbuilt Mat that has a 2" height, so I am shrinking it down to 8'10". The room is 14 x 19 or so, looks like I can be 9 - 10ft back from impact screen and have plenty side to side space, only really know righties so not too worried about lefties in setup - nor could I accommodate both permanently and still fit couches/seating in the room, so planning a little offset from center anyways.

Given all the above, which do you recommend?

I like the mounted and integrated look of the Uneekor, but worried it might be too short distance and get in the way and still need to find space to mount to projector. I also like the Uneekor since it has the impact images I believe by default (don't need swing optix), which doesn't seem to be available on GC Quad? But I am worried that it may not work in future setups. I also don't know their software at all and I have to buy TGC2019 again and pay 200/year subscription!

I like the GCQuad for portability (range or new setup where I can't ceiling mount) as well as can get the putting analysis add-on, which doesn't seem to be a thing for uneekor, but it also doesn't seem to provide impact images? It also seems like I can keep using my existing FX2020 and TGC2019 (I think with GSX bridge but worried its going to have same latency as my GC2). I worry about the integrated look of the GCQuad vs. Uneekor - but I also have to have a bunch of outlets or wires along my ceiling, so it may look worse. It's way more expensive but both are on sale right now so want to decide soon!

I have setup my previous SIM in multiple different houses and locations so I have gotten 5 years out of it but

Would you not also consider the Protee VX as another option for overhead? I currently have GC2 like yourself and am looking to upgrade to something newer. Considered most of the options but always find myself getting drawn back to the Protee. Seems to be best value and you won’t have any issue transferring your TGC license over and also no subscriptions to pay to use it. For range sessions I will just keep my GC2, resale price of them nowadays is rock bottom so not worth me selling it.

What did you decide to go with?

I decided to go with the Quad. Was actually two fold. I was super worried on the EyeXO2 and the 9' requirement and I was trying to decide while there was Fathers Day specials going on for both the quad and the uneekor. I was out of time when I made the decision and didn't know if my room had the joists in the ceiling running parallel or perpendicular so I was going to recess it if needed.

I was back and forth all Fathers Day and then when I went on the Uneekor website at 10pm on that Sunday night, they had already ended their sale. I guess they had it set to expire at 9pm PST which was midnight EST, so I wasn't about to pay more anyways. Was kind of shady. I reached out to them and told them I was on PST, I tried and wanted to buy it but they got back to me basically thanking for feedback but couldn't do anything. So was definitely an indicator to their customer service so I went with Quad.

I also liked that it was removable, I will have ceiling mounted projector and didnt' want all that noise in the dual purpose room and now I can just put the quad away (or honestly its off to the side anyways) when I want to have movie night in sim.
