  • Software Internet Usage

I am in the process of building my golf sim in my storage barn. It is located in an rural area with no internet access. I have considered buying a Starlink Mini, which will allow for 50GB of usage per month.

My question is, will 50GB/month be enough?

How much internet does programs like GSpro use on average?

From what I can find, 50GB allows for about 20 hours of HD video streaming. How will this equate to using GSpro? I realize GSpro is not a streaming platform, so i am hopeful that 50GB will allow for enough usage for me and my son.

Any insight, or additional solutions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

It really depends on what else you plan to use the system for. Will it exclusively be for golf sim playing? GSPro once it is up and running in and of itself does not use much data but if you are constantly playing new courses (one of the benefits of GSPro) then it can add up. PC Updates, antivirus programs, other updates etc. will add to this. Will you stream video (Netflix etc.) - golf videos, golf lessons? Will you run cameras? Any cloud storage or back-ups to the cloud?

All said though, yes you need internet so best maybe to just give it a try and see how you do? There are work arounds to many of the options above ....

Yeah I agree with jasonreg. I didn't realize Starlink had limited bandwidth options like that. I bet that goes up soon if it hasn't already! A little tip- download just a few courses and see how it's going and then if you're near the end of your month and have a bunch leftover then download a few more courses to make the most out of your internet that month!
