Newbie... Best launch monitor for indoor sim....

Hello,

I am new to this forum and have enjoyed reading all the information about sims. I am in the process of adding on to our house and will have a 26' x 14.5' dedicated area for a golf simulator. My main purpose is to practice in the evening and work on my swing. would like to have nice simulator to play games with guest. Also plan on including nice high speed video cameras.


Money aside.... What would be the best setup... Launch monitor (trackman, flightscope or gc2-hmt). I think those are my 3 choices because I want to build this myself. I like to start off with the best... So I don't regret decision later on, Don't really want to spend $19,000 for a trackman 4, but if it is really a lot better and more accurate... Then I can make it happen. I like the idea of Doppler because it can sit in custom cabinet on back wall and out of the way when my kids play. However, I'm concerned about it reading club data as accurate as the hmt.


Also really like the setup at golftec... Swing video wise... Wondering if there is a way to build something like that for personal use?


Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

GC2/HMT is very accurate indoor. Leftie rightie is an issue. Trackman is good but indoor not as accurate plus can't putt.

Actually, you can putt with TM4, it is one of the new features.

I am also not sure I'm convinced from the argument you put forward re accuracy either (one of those things that will never be resolved in my opinion) but let's save that argument for others and also for the appropriate thread.

What I would say though is that your sim options are better with GC2.

Hey Thanks for the comments. My main concern is club head data. But the rest of the data is important too. I really want to work on my impact position. I like the accelerator option on the flightscope... Also like the idea of it sitting behind me protected in a cabinet on the wall. But if the HMT gives the best club head data than I think that would be the way to go. Also would like a launch monitor that works well with swing videos. I wonder if the trackman 4 is better with club head data now that it has a dedicated Doppler for that purpose.

Have you looked at the flightscope x2 elite? I have used flightscope indoors and found it to be very accurate

Doppler radar units will be calculating the spin axis, as it's been clarified by at least Flightscope reps.

There is no way for these machines to measure the axis of spin when used indoors with limited flight.

That said, I own a Flightscope and use it mostly indoors and find it very accurate on picking up shot curvature. But just wanted to add that into the mix, as, from a technical standpoint, that would leave a camera system with more room to be more "accurate".

Obviously when used outdoors, radar units are tracking the entire flight of the ball...so it's a different animal indoors/outdoors.

Hey Bronco.... I have and still am looking at the flightscope. I really like the swing accelerator feature. Also like the price range. Very close to the foresight hmt option price wise.... Not all that excited about putting stickers on the ball and having to make sure the stickers facing the screen.

Hey goat, I don't think I will be over concerned if side spin is off a little with the simulation mode. My main concern is to work on my swing. If flightscope or Trackman can get the club head data as accurate as the hmt... Than I think I would prefer a Doppler system. I am more concerned with angle of attach. I wonder. How much better the Trackman 4 is because of the dual Doppler?.... If it is any better at all?

How about a gloves off debate on which one of the 3 is the most accurate... Are they all so close that it really doesn't matter? Or us one of much more accurate?

Finding which launch monitor is the most "accurate" is an impossible task. We have debated this for years and there is no right answer. Each system has there pros and cons. My advice, pick one you like and enjoy it.

No problem. You will make right choice. Just look at all the factors such as price, reviews, setup, software, ball data vs club data, support etc. Once you pick one, be happy with it. In my opinion they are all close in accuracy, just offer different specs.

The reality is no choice is a bad one. All of the top LM's are super good.

Pretty much what others are saying. They'll all be very accurate.

There is no way to say this one is more accurate as the ball hits the net and that's the end of the "real" ball flight. So who knows what exactly happens.

All 3 of those brands will give you really accurate simulation. Some offer putting and others don't. Just do your research and make sure the one you choose offers the software that you require, including the type/brand/price of simulation software integrated.

My area is 24 ft by 22 ft and I am looking at Bothe systems you are i am getting a demo of Flightscope delivered next week to try out . i have a outdoor teaching area and a am incorporating this indoor simulator. Too much stuff out on market. Flightscope and trackman seem to look like the best choice I am building my own simulator if u want to email me at Aborseth@aol.com would like to compare prices u find also. i am looking at E6 software $4k, Flightscope elite and still researching all other little stuff. Benq1080 full HD projector $1k or Epson 6000 projector $2300 seems to be the best clarity is important to me . this is what I am looking at haven't pulled trigger on anything yet email would like to compare stuff with you.
