  • Newbie looking for clarification...

I'm getting back into golf after not playing much for the past 10 years or so. Played 7 or 8 times this summer and have my handicap hovering between 7-10. I LOVE playing, but with 3 young kids and a strict budget, just don't have a lot of time or money to do so. This had me looking into the world of sims. Play 18 holes at night after the kids have gone to bed? Sounds good to me.

I've lurked and done research on here for awhile, but wanted to post my thoughts for some clarification to make sure I'm thinking correctly on a few things...

    1. budget is my biggest issue here. Realistically, I have less the $300 to spend. I realize that's laughable for a quality sim, but it's where I am. Knowing that...is Optishot my best option? It sort of my only option from what I'm reading.

    2. i know that, in time, I could upgrade aspects of my sim equipment to get a better experiment. once I have the unit, is a mat the next best thing to invest in?

    3. what is the cheapest you guys have gotten your optishots for? It seems like, if i get lucky, i could land an Optishot 1 used on ebay for about 150-175. I chatted with someone from optishot who basically said it would be just $30 to get it work for my mac and he said that would include the optishot 2 upgrade. just curious as to the best deals (used or deals) you've seen. if i can get the unit cheap, i just have more money to play with for a mat, etc.

i know there are some similar posts out there, so i'm sorry if i shouldn't have created my own. Just wanted to see what some of your thoughts are and make sure i'm thinking along the same lines & not missing anything.
