  • Insurance Tip: I had my Skytrak added to my home owners policy for $12/year.

I had my Skytrak added to my home owners policy as itemized scheduled personal property. For $12.83/year my skytrak is covered for $2,000 if anything happens to it.

So if you're worried about toe shots destroying your investment, call up your insurance company and see what they can do for you. I do the same thing for my cell phones and it is cheaper then any other insurance you can buy.

Wow, that's a fantastic little life hack type of thing there haha, I'll have to look into that, thanks for the idea

Actually, bad news, turns out this only covers theft, not breakage. They are going to quote me for breakage soon.

Ah damn, that theft part isn't too bad to have, but keep us updated on the breakage part and the cost

Okay, good news. Finally got total clarification from the insurance agency, and for $12.83/year my Skytrak is 100% covered against accidental damage and mysterious disappearance with no deductible.

So a toe shank into the camera IS covered.

Call up your insurance agency and see if they will add similar coverage for you. As a reminder, this was added on to my home owners insurance.

Wow! So you're telling me one can buy this insurance for less than what SkyTrak charges for extra 6 months of warranty (and the SkyTrak warranty doesn't cover theft and prob not toe shank into camera either). Either this insurance is under-priced or the SkyTrak warranty is way over-priced...

This insurance is under-priced in my opinion, but don't tell the carrier that. I think the reason it is under-priced is because this was classified as an entertainment/electronics device. I actually pay more for the same insurance for my cell phones, but I carry those around with me all day and am much more likely to drop one.

What this insurance does NOT cover is manufacturer problems. So if your skytrak stops working, and not related to an accident where damage occurred, then that would not be covered.

Yeah but if that happens you just might do a toe hit into the unit on purpose.
