Hello everyone...I'm looking to replace my optishot with a different simulator but I need to find one that I can use with foam golf balls. I would like to upgrade to a higher end system but I'm limited on space where it is located. I know that the P3 system allows you to use foam balls, but I really wanted to find a system that works with TGC. Does anyone have any ideas on other systems? I love the idea of SkyTrak but haven't found anyone who said they found a way to get it to read foam balls.

Skytrak read foam balls for me ok, haven't really tried it much but found a old plastic one in a bucket of balls in my garage and it worked very nicely, seemed pretty accurate as well. No idea what type of practice ball it was but it basically looked look a semi hard plastic golf ball with all the dimples actually reversed and popping out. It was white as well though, so if you do go skytrak route I would make sure to test the white balls as well as the yellow ones to see if it makes a difference (heard yellow isn't great for the readings)

Skytrak will definitely read indoor balls. I have used almostgolf balls and it seems to read the spin fine especially after I have marked them with a sharpie. I hit into a 6 foot sklz net and it works great. Since these balls travel about 1/2 the distance of a regular ball the ball speed is a little slower so the distance is a little short. It seems about -10% to me. The next update to TGC is supposed to add a boost function that should be able to fully compensate for the decreased distance. The ball doesn't quite feel like a real ball but a good compromise all things considered.

Do yourself a favour and buy some Qolf balls (spelled with a Q). They're limited flight balls. But they read very close to real balls on a Skytrak. They also give way more feedback off your club than regular foam balls do. They're much better all around.

Thank you for the replies guys. I was considering getting the Protee but it seems like people have a more realistic experience with SkyTrak using limited flight balls. TGC looks awesome in pictures. Next time I'll buy a house with a much larger man cave.
