  • Adding video capture to garage sim skytrak

Not sure how many of you saw a trackman video a while back promoting their full indoor solution with multiple video cameras recording all shots for review right after you hit your shot just like the stats that come up on sim software.. I'm wondering if there are any DIY solutions that anyone has tried with a second monitor connected to our PC already running TGC or JPNG?

    Yea

That is easy. I use the V1 app. You can get it for PC or in the apple app store. I have both and like the apple version better. Grab an Ipad or Iphone and you are good to go. The apple app version is better, the camera on a newer Iphone or Ipad is more than adequate and you don't have the expense of a secondary display. I have a secondary display with a webcam and I still use my Ipad instead of the PC version. If you go with the PC version, you need a higher end webcam or you will get motion blur. This logitech c930e is about the best out there right now.

Does it automatically capture your shots and place them on a screen where you can easily review and playback in slo-mode after each shot? Do you have to trigger the recording somehow between shots? I want this to happen automatically from two cameras one face on and one down the line.

For that need to purchase high speed cameras. The Image Source and Point Grey have these. Need to run on separate PC with dedicated monitor. There are mics that can trigger camera. Also check out Motion View analysis software. Has more features for swing analysis compared to V1. No Motion View available for iPhone. V1 is good and I use on course.
Want minimum of 120 FPS and control shutter.

Does anyone have anything like this successfully set up in their sim room?

I don't have sim room, but I use Swing Profile on iPhone/iPad

I found an open source application called Kinovea (http://www.kinovea.org/) that seems to support this role very nicely. I haven't had the time to work with it extensively (next winter's project), but it has some unique motion analysis tools, supports two cameras and can support a wide variety of cameras and formats. Give it a go...and share your experiences.

The easiest video capture I know of is the Auto-capture feature of the ZEPP GOLF device and APP. This will Auto Capture your swing 3 seconds before through 3 seconds after impact using your IPHONE. Granted it may not be 120fps but it works very well. You can also use an Ipad to capture video. The video is stored in the cloud I believe so you can view it elsewhere.(I think).

point grey grasshoppers with GASP. It's the best solution available for a space inside 20' wall to wall.
