I've been reporting this turd for months now.

We should probably make a sticky at the top on how not to get scammed on eBay via GC2.

Basically, as long as you ignore your e-mail and log in to eBay/PayPal directly by typing those URLs into a browser (and not clicking on links in e-mail), eBay is as safe as it gets.

They key to eBay scams, as you mentioned, is that the seller wants you to pay outside of eBay/Paypal. As long as you go to those sites directly (and don't click a misleading link in an e-mail), you are not going to get scammed.

Shame on eBay with all its money for not having software capable of detecting e-mail addresses in pictures by this point.

The fact that something is being sold at substantially below market price is your best indicator that criminality is afoot!

A great way to find market price for something is to search eBay's sold listings. Let's say the average that a used GC2 sold for over the past 90 days is $5000. Can you buy one for $4,000, or even $3,700? Yes, quite possibly. $2,500, with HMT, tons of courses, etc--all at Buy it Now (no auction)?

The item is hot at best, and a flat out scam at worst.

Again, when you see something for direct sale (no auction) at way below market price, your radar should be on.
