  • New ES16

I haven't got the room 100% complete as of yet, but I do have it setup enough to use the Ernest Sport ES16 when it gets her Monday. I am looking forward to seeing how well it works. I started out with a P3 Pro Swing, but soon found I had all kinds of problems with ball tracking, I was told it was due to my lighting, I then changed out my lighting three times and now have it setup with all LED lights but still could not get the unit to function properly. I could hit the ball into the center of the screen, yet the P3 Pro Swing would show it going off left or right at an angle above 30 degrees or something on that order. I could hit it to the right side of the screen and it would show it going left, it is hard to work on your game when you can't get an accurate reading off what you are doing. I then switched over to the GolfAchiever and had a lot better performance, but they never came up with any software to play online. The courses were fun and my wife, our grandsons, and I had a lot of fun using the system. The youngest grandson had more missed readings than anyone, and every one else would have one now and then and a few balls here and there came up with readings that were well out of specks, but for the most part if you just wanted a system to play rounds on it worked out very well for that. I was looking for something that would give me a true reading for what is being done. I am hoping it will be useful for my grandsons to improve their game, and also myself, and give us some enjoyment during those days it is just to bad a weather to play at the course. Had to redo my golf room to match the setup for the ES16 but do like the way it is turning out, I am sure hoping the ES16 proves it is worth the extra effort to change the room. Oldest grandson even made a sign to hang on the door, due to the number of courses on TGC he thought it was a good one to put up. I am relatively new to golf I didn't start playing golf until I was 64 years old, but I sure am enjoying it now.

I redid my clubs last night and took 1" off the shafts, I had them 1 1/2" longer than normal to start with, I think the club heads were brushing the mat and the mic was picking up the sound and setting off the cameras premature to impact. With the new setting to prevent false swings due to practice swings the unit was shutting down before my swing was complete. They seem to be working like they should now.

So far I am liking the new calibration, it has given a lot of improvement to the ES16, not saying it is at 100% by any means but they are on the right track. Ball flight information matches with what I see on the course, and slight changes in my stance and ball placement show up on the ES16 now. False launches from practice swings have been eliminated from everything I have been able to do. Very few missed shots and the ones it did miss were bad enough I was kind of glad it did miss them. Also ball placement is a larger area, still having to place the logo but I think that will be fixed soon. I have had the unit pick up the ball just because it came to rest off the rebound in the area where the unit could see it.

I know I haven't posted anything lately, but I have had some problem come up that have keep me pretty busy and away from golf of any kind. Almost fell through the floor going out my front door, I found that the rain has been coming in behind the siding down the inside of the wall and into the flooring, I also found out it is affecting both the front and back doors of the house. I have insurance on the house plus I have a home owners protection plan but it seems neither one covers damage from wind driven rain, and that is what they are claiming is the problem. So needless to say all my time has been tied up in this house problem and sadly golf has been pushed to the back burner for now.
I have also gotten a Pro Tee system for the wife and youngest grandson, got it right before all this other stuff came about, and as soon as I get my house fixed properly I will install the Pro Tee, plus work some more with the ES16 and add some more post. Right now battling the cold weather and trying to set up the door repair without having to freeze myself out of my house in doing so.
