  • My Golf Simulator Build

Finally finished converting an extra bedroom into a golf sim room. I have the Foresight GC2 with FSX software. Also bought the TGC software.

Room before I started. Ceilings are 9':

I put down 1/2" rubber flooring on top of some laminate floor underlayment to protect the wood floors:

I built the frame out of 1" Schedule 40 aluminum pipe and Kee Klamp aluminum fittings. The frame is suspended from joists in the attic. The screen folds up to the ceiling when not in use by a pulley system, so you can still enter the room thru the door. There is a second door to the room for entry when the screen is down.

The finished product. I have SynGreen artificial putting turf on the floor except for where the hitting mat is located.

I also have a TV mounted in the room for watching golf, or anything else while playing. Also bought an HTC Vive headset which is almost as cool as the golf sim.

    Looks great!

You built that frame completely by yourself or you ordered a frame kit?

Looks awesome! Do you mind sharing the room dimensions and what projector you used? It looks like a smaller room and high def projector, but wasn't sure

The room is 18' x 14' with 9' ceilings. I think it's about the minimum dimensions you can get away with. I am currently doing a rebuild on the room, because I had to dismantle it a year ago due to a broken pipe in the attic flooding the room (luckily nothing got permanently damaged). I bought a 10' retractable screen from The SportScreen that I am going to mount to the ceiling. This should allow me to use the main door to the room which you can see in the early photos. There is a second entrance through the Jack and Jill bathroom.

The only ones I have really played are The Golf Club VR and Smashbox Arena. The Golf Club VR is really cool, the only drawback being that the controller is so light that it is hard to feel like you are swinging a real club. I would like to rig up something with a weighted golf club handle. Smashbox is a very fun Dogdeball game that you can play online with others. My sister's kids actually use the VR the most and they really love Job Simulator.
