I PM'D a forum member this question the other day but figured it would be more appropriate to ask the general population as well. I'll try to keep it brief: last year I was gifted an optishot2 from my wife for Christmas after a colleague at work recommended it in helping keep him in "golf shape" over the winter. I did a little bit of looking and knew that it wasn't necessarily very accurate but felt like I could stay within a club distance and general directions be reasonable. Between 60-80 hr workweeks and recently moving into a new home, I have just been able to get my setup going. As it stands, I have been exceptionally disappointed to the point now of looking for something more plug and play. Given my heavy workload, I don't have the time and energy to really dive into building out and tweaking the clubs to give a result that seems on par with my average shot. Further, I question whether the results would even be remotely accurate given all the tweaking.
Just for examples, my pw is measuring out 10yd short and it progressively widens such that a 4i is 20-25 yd short. My normal ballflight is a draw yet the driver was showing a near boomerang style slice. I played my freshman year of college at a D2 school and presently play down to a 4 hcp so I can usually tell how my shots are going to turnout when I make a bad swing. optishot has been very responsive via email support but nothing short of inisivually dialing in clubs may work and, as mentioned previously, I just don't have the time nor do I think I would trust it down the road.
So, I have been thinking about upgrading to the skytrak system. I'd love to get a sim that does ball and club data but I just don't have the coin to drop 4-5k+ on a monitor. $2000 is a touch more than I'd like to spend but I can swallow it knowing it'll put me much closer to real resultant.
Is there anything else out there that I should be considering???
edit:
my long term goal is to build out part of my attic and do something very nice with a system that can do ball and club data. Right now, I am hitting into a net in my garage. I'll see if I can post an image of what I'm working with now.
goals: I'd like to not only practice but play actual sim rounds as well. I'm a mac guy, but my computer is old and a new mac upgrade should allow me to run both iOS and windows separately. It seems TGC is the most popular sim? From what I have seen here, it is only PC based.
Thanks,
Todd
