What's up guys, long time lurker here and we are moving in the next year and in that will be a house where this can happen. I am not overly worried about building the actual theatre room or garage man cave (likely latter, house depending) as I am in construction and can figure that out enough aside from technical needs for computer and projector etc.

my main question is what system? I need to keep this affordable and skytrak is what got me thinking this can be a reality. In all my internet reading, skytrak seems really mixed on reviews and consensus is go for the gc2 if I can get one used. So I would love input on those 2 systems along with these general newbie questions.

-is practice really helpful? My main purpose with this is because of kids and work and time, to stay up on my game in a positive manner to get good without leaving the house. I live in Florida and can hit balls year round, but I am buying time and convience as well as info I can't get at the range. I know a lot about golf and I feel capable of working on my game with proper info.

-anyone double this as a movie areas for the family? Seems logical with HD projector and everything in place. If so what pitfalls and things are involved with that besides a couch nearby.

-looks like TGC is way to go for sim. How is skytrak and gc2 with with TGC and how do both handle putting/chipping? Putting is my strong suit, and I don't entirely care if it is not realistic to a T as much as is it usable and fun for having beers with buds or jamming some holes with my son or by myself at night after work. I am all about the range application of this, but playing sim is a no brainer for badass fun if I am that deep already, I just want it to be fun.

-what are the major costs or obstacles I am overlooking? And what is a minimum space needed? I think garage is likely going to be the spot, can I do this in half of a 2 car garage (assuming ceiling height is good) and what do I need for a comfortable ceiling?

I have already bought some nice mats from golfsmith going under, couldn't pass up the stance and 2 hitting mats for $280 and I got them in new condition as I had pick of the litter.

Other than that, I welcome all comments and thoughts. The skytrack delay bothers my in theory, and my worst case now is I don't do sim, and get skytrak and a 55" and call it a day and just practice at home like that, and it is what it is...... it I really want to go all in with this though.

    thanks!

I am a Skytrak and TGC user. I converted from the Optishot 2 which is now essentially collecting dust. I thoroughly enjoy TGC and once you get your Skytrak and TGC set with a projector and an impact screen it's a whole different world.

Fun is a major factor and I am more than satisfied with the accuracy of my system.

Is it true you can't have more than 1 player with skytrack and TGC? I am reading so much on internet, and across past two years I am having a hard time understanding where skytrack stands today compared to even earlier this year. If I can't play a simulated round with another person (My son or friends) I think that has to all but eliminate it for me, but I can't see how that is possible. I hope I mis read that.

You can have up to 4 people playing TGC at once. However, TGC only allows for 1 permanent profile. The others must use guest profiles.

Skytrak's app only allows for 1 user which I think where the confusion maybe coming in.

So I know the gc2 is the best way to go.

i am wondering if for my needs I don't start with skytrak, see how it goes and I can always upgrade in the future?

meaning will I use it as much as I think? Will family use it a lot and have fun? How bad is the skytrak really as of now (lots of the bad I read is from issues in beginning) and if I ise the crap out of it and yearn for more, I can always just keep a lookout for a gc2 in future, and if skytrack is fine and it is used somewhat then I am not as invested?

                any thoughts on this?

my only thought to not do this is that the gc2 from getti will be a good experience. I am not simulator familiar at all with it, but I am very familiar with them when testing clubs and it is easy and foolproof.

also, if I buy tgc for skytrak, can I use it for gc2 of I upgrade units?

TGC license can be transferred so that part of the investment is safe. I would opt for the Skytrak and see if you like it if and save a few g's...
