Projector location - Is the floor an option?

Trying to get everything set for a simulator build and have only seen post about projectors being ceiling mounted. Wondering if anyone has tried or have thoughts on keeping the projector on the floor in front of a hitting mat with a case built around it (with 1/4' piece of wood laid in front of the projector so balls do not bounce/roll back into the lens)? Seems like it would be a lot more transportable (take it inside during cold months, set up outside in warm months, etc). The case I am imagining would be ramped so you would not get direct bounce back if/when worm burners are hit.

Thoughts?
