  • My Build - Thanks to this Forum

    Hello all,

I've been reading this forum for a while now and the advice I have received and the ideas that I have been given lead to my simulator being nearly complete! I started in an old barn that had horse stalls in it. My buddy and I gutted the barn and installed some rough-sawn shiplap. In any case, here is the "almost" finished product in pictures:

    -Premium screen from Carls
    -Skytrak
-Golf Mat from Amazon (Waiting for True Strike to be delivered)
    -Samsung 65" for the games
-Vizio 32" for the interface with Tru-Golf E6
-Epson Projector I had in my basement

Anyway, Thanks so much to everyone who posts here. I learned a lot over the last few months!

    Mike from NH

Room dimensions are 21’ long by 13’ wide by 9’4” tall. Ball to screen, 9’. There’s a room behind the screen so we put the screen on a curtain track (as suggested on this forum).

That may eliminate Trackman as you’d gave to be hitting off center

          *have

hitting off center makes options a little more limited. I don’t know if multiple launch monitors are supported in Amy Sims but if so One on left wall and one on right wall may make sense.

Great job... !! I see you have a separate light to illuminate the ball, does that help a lot? Thanks!

I think it does. I installed two wall sconces on the back wall so no direct light splashes on the screen. It left the hitting area a little too dark and, for now, this desk lamp with a spot light in it works well to illuminate the ball and surrounding area. We also found it helps with picking up short putts. I’m considering installing something permanent (and less obvious) soon.

That looks great. Makes me wish I had a barn to do something similar. How big is the space?

Agree with the short throw projector comment above as you're only using 50% of the screen.

I can see you'd start to see your shadow at address if you moved the projector back to get a bigger image - but you have lots of room to move the hitting position back to avoid it. Issues there?

Yes. Believe me, I’ve tried to configure this a lot of different ways. First and most importantly, I needed room for people/golfers behind the hitting area. Also, there’s a beam at 13 feet ( just in front of the projector ) that would prevent swinging driver.

That's a pity. It's really nice to have the image take full screen, especially right down to the floor makes putting super cool.

Getting Better every day... Totally Splurged on some Bob's Furniture for the Lounge Area. Just got the Optoma GT1080p darbee in today. Should fill most of the screen once I install. Can't wait! Almost set for the winter in New England!!

Price not being a factor, what would be the best Sim for a room you have to hit off center?
