  • Simulator builds tips/tricks

Hey guys I’m almost done my build, got a few things to do still. Would like some tips or ideas for my space.
I am going to put a net canopy across the top to protect from high shots. I have a bunch bounce back from the screen because I pulled it tight so I had no wrinkles in the screen. But any help to fix that and minimize the bounce back would help as well.
So let’s see your set up! Brag post as well if ya want lol love some different ideas

You can trim out your screen fairly inexpensively it really makes it look a lot better. You can wrap Velcro strips around your poles and then use black indoor outdoor carpet from menards. It comes in 6’ width and you cut it to length and width you need. It attaches easily to the Velcro. It’s the foss ecofi autobond I think

I was thinking about using a heavy black curtain to do the same job. I hadn't thought about carpet. Do you have any pics of what it looks like?

Looks great. How well does it absorb impacts?

Don't think it's intended to absorb impact. I've only used it to give it a finished look and improve appearance. I hit from about 10' away and have yet to hit a shank all the way to the side.

KPaas What did you use for the large piece of green turf and is it adhered to the floor or just laying on top?

I just bought outdoor green carpet. Was about 80 cents a square foot cdn dollars.
It was a cut off price so got it cheap.
I used a little carpet adhesive on the edge and corners. Pulled it tight and works great.
Alternative would be a little industrial velcro if ya don’t want a more permanent use.

I would love to do a more permanent and professional looking install, but my wife is an erratic high hcp who can sometimes impress me by missing to the right at almost 90 degrees. The house is also brand new and I wanted to put as few holes in the walls as possible. It is a nice, large upstairs room with half bath that will likely become somebody's game or media room, not a golf SIM room when we sell.

Nice set up!! I wish I did the bottom of my screen like that. Does that ever fold in with hard shots? Or stay like that.

I had a triangle piece of foam made that runs the width of the cage and sits behind the screen at the bottom to protect against ricochets off of the bottom piece of EMT. This keeps the screen from folding in and such. I do straighten it out when I shag the ~18 balls that I use.

Well I framed in my mats and now they don’t move. Really wasn’t hard.
6x4 piece of plywood, they can cut it at hardware store if you don’t have a table saw or skill saw
1x3 Pine around the boarder and the mats just sat right in. I tapconed the frame into the cement, but your body weight does hold it in place as well if tapcons are to permanent for ya lol
