  • Sim build in Ohio

well, I finally got my lazy butt to finish the sim, mostly. haha. about 95% done. just need to do something with the computer and then maybe hang clubs on the wall. but the important stuff is complete now.
thanks to everyone on the forum for sharing their builds and answering questions.
    here are some pics.
attached angle iron to the walls and ceiling.
attached a moving blanket, then carl's screen (cheapest one), then finally got the direct from the mill screen and placed in front of that. attached with bungees and tarp clips to the angle iron. built up a subfloor. cut out room for the divot action insert. I can interchange it with a solid piece with turf on top in case the kids want to run around in the area so they don't keep stepping on my divot action, or if we do VR and walk around in the room in the future. carpet taped the turf to the subfloor. turf and divot action are exactly level. rolled out some creases in the turf with a carpet roller. hung black fabric from joann's, it was cheap, around the top and hanging from the sides as a border. carpet tiles on the walls. bounce back" ball stops about 8-12 inches from the screen with driver, about 3-4 feet with irons.
this was my first DIY project ever in my life. helped start my tool collection. but, I don't know if i'm gonna tackle another big project. I'm too lazy for this kind of thing, and being on the floor hurts my knees and back (I sound old), and hiring someone is really more my style. haha.
I finished about everything working between 2-4 hours at a time (after the kids go to bed), in around 14 sessions, I think? I could of probably done it faster, but some nights I was just too tired to work at a pace other than turtle mode.

actually, this thing won't let me post pics. I compressed most of them to under the allowable file limit, then it says it requires 600x600 max. any help on posting pics?

I’m also in Ohio in the Mansfield area. Almost finished my garage sim area. Need to be able to move stuff to put truck inside during snow or freezing rain crap. Waiting for projector mount (Tues).

      Nice.
Whay kind of cart are you using for the computer?

      How do i post pics???

It was actually a file holding cart from Office Max, I cut piece of Plywood for the top to be slightly wider to hold the keyboard and center the monitor. Just a simple way to repurpose something I had at little cost. Especially since I’m already into this thing for 5 Grand! Lol! To add pics just touch left icon above and brouse

      cool.

it says my picture file size is too big, or that it's not 600x600 in size. any suggestions?

kalcormier they are ribbed carpet squares. I checkered the pattern as well as did a quarter turn for each peice alternating so it gives a cool texture appearance in real life. They jist stick onto the wall. Got them pretty cheap. Will try to find the name a little later.

Looks very good! I’d love to have an indoor room but will just be happy I have room in the Garage! My projector mount just got here yesterday afternoon so will try to mount it today.

      nice.

our garage is way too cold to do a garage sim. air leaks everywhere i guess.
Working...
