  • Help choosing equipment for small garage size constraints

Hi guys, pretty new to the forums and have a skytrak on the way and really looking forward to some sim golf. I’m having a lot of difficulty deciding how to approach my build and could use lots of assistance. I’m not very handy (my dads the handyman and he’s out of country for the foreseeable future) but I’ll do what I can to make things work best.

So I initially bought the SKLZ dual net in the link below and it was too big to fit in my garage. I was thinking of hitting toward the garage door but can hit the other way if it’s better although I doubt it. If anyone has a suggestion for a smaller net (I was thinking netreturn pro 7 x 7), id appreciate any input. The netreturn is pretty expensive so any cheaper options would be nice or if you recommend just going straight to an impact screen I could just do that too.

So here’s what we are working with:

    - Nearly all the junk and shelves and bike and whatever is going to be removed first

    - The picture with the garage door shows the garage door opener rail just below and left of the bright light. That’s the lowest point in the garage (beside the garage opener itself) at a couple inches under 8’.

    - The garage is 10 feet wide

    - I have a little under 15’ of depth from garage door to where I need to leave space for the washer to open and the water softener.

    - There are a bunch of the length wide beams that run the length of the garage at about 8.6” and the light bulbs are about 8.4”. There are gaps between the beams at almost 10’ where I think my clubs can go in the backswing and follow through possibly too.

    - The rail seems to be the biggest constraint meaning my net or impact screen could only be about 7.6” max. Is that too small or is that acceptable. (I was hoping to do a projector and impact screen eventually or right away if it saves trouble).

How would you guys approach all this. I don’t think I can raise anything unfortunately.

I could just set up everything in my carport but that would kind of defeat the purpose of the simulator as it would be outdoor and hot and rainy at times and I wanted to watch movies on the impact screen too. I have no ceiling or roof in the carport but the max height of a canopy im allowed to put in there is only like 8.6” I think so I couldn’t really waterproof the setup (unless you guys so good idea).

my computer is in my room and I’ll be using a steam link running a long Ethernet wire back to the router about 12’ inside of the house from the garage. The steam link will be hooked up to a computer monitor and eventually (or right away) a projector for my display. And I’ll be on a diy truestrike. No room in my house for the setup unfortunately.

Thanks for any help that can be provided and let me know if you have questions or want more pictures or anything!

Edit: highly considering Net Return Home series the later throwing on the projector screen that’s made for it. Any thoughts on this idea and if I have the height or space needed for a projector with this setup?
