Like a lot of us, i've been lurking behind the scenes learning from this forum, in anticipation of building out my simulator room. I built a new home about two years ago or so, and one of the requirements was to have higher ceilings in the basement. Not a deep as i'd like, but there were limitations so 9' it was... This still allows for me to swing any club in my bag without worrying of the ceiling. I looked at a lot of pre-built systems, cages, netting and screens but decided to buy the DW Quail golf 10x10x10 cage and netting and modify it myself. I bought it off amazon and was delivered for free in 2 days! I cut the conduit down to the correct height, then lay'd down the turf (went with longer turf for looks) that I bought at a local HW store. I wrapped the 1" conduit with duck tape so the poles were hidden in the netting. What I like about the DW kit on Amazon it that it is very high quality netting, and corner pieces. Very much a commercial deal. When I hung the net, I just made sure everything was tight on the top and sides. I had about a foot extra netting being only at 9', but was about to utilize that to catch stray balls and bunched it up with zip ties to tighten on bottom.
I've ordered some blackout panels from Custom design golf - (John has been very helpful!), and it looks to be enough to just leave the netting to cover the ceiling for high shots from lob wedges, etc. All in so far us under 1,125$ - including the projector. The mat on the floor is from RawHide Golf Mats. They are excellent and a great value, so check them out! I'll be ordering an impact screen next...
