  • If you could build an ideal golf simulator building, what would it look like?

Ive been researching on this site for a while. Thanks for all the great ideas I have already seen from others builds.

I will try to keep this short. If its within budget the wife is cool with me building a golf simulator building (shed). Budget is hopefully under 20k and in a perfect world that would include the simulator. It depends on what my uncle quotes me. He is a contractor and is gonna draw me up specs on the dimensions I give him. I wanted to get others advice on the dimensions I should give him. I would like it to be big enough to swing comfortably and have a spot for 4 ppl to sit. I also want it to be able to serve double duty as a movie room for the family. 95% of the time it will be in simulator mode. I am also 6'4" and I dont even want to think about the ceiling when playing.

We live in the suburbs but have a good sized lot with a lot of large trees between the neighbors. Ideally, I would like to use it for some storage as well. I know just build a bigger shed but I want to keep small-ish and use all the space efficiently. Maybe have an awning or something similar for my canoes to stay dry and get them out of my main garage as well. My initial thought is have a angled roof so the area where you swing is taller than where the screen is. I dont know if that would cost more or is even a good ideat. Construction is not my forte.

I also need to figure out the best heater/ac for it. Im in MN so a good heater is a must. I have not decided on what simulator to get. Trackman is out of my budget. I am leaning towards CG2 with or without the HT.

I would like to have it done by Thanksgiving. Iv'e got a lot more questions but I will save those for another day.

Do you think this is reasonable ask for $20k? I dont want to go cheap. I want this building to last and be solid. I am open to any all suggestions. If you are still reading this, thank you.

Is shed attached to house? If not I wouldn't worry about movie room. Noone will be going outside in a shed to watch movies, plus real insulation and heating then. If you want a home theater build one in the house, plus projectors for HT are way more than you would use for Golf.

I think 20k could cover the build and equipment. GC2 seems to be best for indoor. If you are building and hae unlimited space you could build big enough to use Flightscope also if you wanted to use outside too. For seating etc. I would say you would need min 20ft wide 25 length 10ft ceilings.

The shed isnt built yet. I have the option to shed or build onto the house depending on price .I would prefer to no be attached to the house. I have not looked into Flightscope. I will do that today. Thanks for your suggestions.

I am in the final stages of construction on my golf building. It is basically a free standing 2 car garage that is finished on the inside. Exterior size is 22' x 31' with the main simulator room being 21 x 22 and about a 8 x 21 storage room in the back. I went pretty high end and did very little of the labor myself. My city and subdivision required construction to full garage standards, so a pole-barn was not an option.

I'm sure you could bring your project in lower, but I'm going to end up just under $60,000 including the golf simulator:
        $9,200 Foundation and concrete floor
$10,000 Framing material, trusses and building construction labor (2x6 exterior walls for more insulation, 9' walls with 11' ceiling over hitting area)
$2,500 Raised platform floor, pine wood ceiling, and interior trim work
$8,200 Siding and gutters (high end vinyl, insulated siding)
$2,700 Roofing (high end asphalt shingles)
$4,500 Electrical (installing sub-panel and running power from home)
$1,200 Insulation (R-19 in walls, R-30 in ceiling)
$4,000 Bryant mini-split air conditioner / heater unit
$2,750 Drywall, including labor for paint-ready walls
        $800 Interior painting
$1,500 Garage door (subdivision required a non-functional door)
        $600 Lights and door hardware
$850 7.2 Denon AVR, speakers, HDTV antenna
$6,000 Pro-Tee golf simulator with TGC and E6 software
$3,000 Gaming computer w/touchscreen monitor, HDTV projector, 12x9 impact screen, nets, curtains, and misc. items
$1,000 Large Syn-Turf putting surface and carpeting

I think the above totals close to $59,000; but I'm sure that I will have a few minor expenses before I'm 100% finished.

If ever desired in the future, the front wall can be cut out and the garage door springs/rails installed so the building can function as a 2 car garage or workshop.

I'll post pictures if I can figure out how to do it.

Attached to house will be ALOT more expensive than putting up a pole barn/shed. Good luck
