The screen is held at the top by 6" bungie cords. Yes, I am using an EMT pipe on top and angle iron on the sides. The EMT pipe hangs from hooks screwed to the ceiling.

I just finished putting a border around my screen. I had originally planned to do it like a friend of mine did. Build a frame (in sections) from 1/4" plywood and cover each section in black vinyl over memory foam padding. Then I got an idea for a quick, lightweight, and really inexpensive solution and decided to give it a whirl. It's not perfect, but it doesn't suck either lol... I just finished it tonight, so I'll see how it goes for the next while to see if I want to swap it out.
The quickie solution was to buy two 1/2" thick neoprene exercise mats that had a smooth mat black finish. 6' L x 2' W x 1/2" thick. Used an exacto knife to cut one in half to make a 12" top horizontal border, and the other into three 8" strips to be used for the sides. I used 1" velcro all around my screen on the angle iron (hook side) and the fuzzy side on the neoprene pads. It turned out surprisingly well. The only downside is that there are seams where the pieces butt together. If you could source a continuous roll of the 1/2" neoprene it would obviously be better.

Nice job. I did something very similar. At a local hardware store they had black indoor outdoor carpet in 6' width cut to any length you want for less than $0.50 a sq ft. I just cut to the width i wanted and it was kind of fuzzy on both sides so I was able to wrap velcro around my frame poles and it sticks to it perfectly.

I think it looks fantastic. I had the same issue and not only thought about a solution for days, but spent many hours wandering home depot to find a solution. My impact screen is 8.5 feet high x 10 feet wide and set 4 feet off my second floor barn wall with a pitched roof, so I wanted continuous access to the storage (excess clubs, bags, etc) behind. The reality is, in my opinion that the surround finish to the screen is aesthetic. Yes you need protection if you hit that perfect miss to hit your frame but a bad miss or aggressive wedge could hit the wall and / or ceiling as well. Since my room is a "theater" also (how do you think I sold the idea to my wife) I ultimately went with 1 x 6 x 10 pine boards cut to size, painted matte black and installed with black hinges on the wall side so as to open when hitting if needed, but certainly to gain access to storage behind. Has a nice clean look for movies but very functional. BTW I also am offet to the right and I too bought an everlast exercise mat that I prop up along the right side to protect my wall and window for those inexperienced hitters. This was my solution currently but always looking for better ideas. I think you did an amazing job congratsComment

It's funny how many golf Sims are referred to as Golf Sims on the forum, but "home theaters" or "yoga rooms" (my case) when around the wife? LOL
BTW if you get the chance, I'd love to see a pic of your dual purpose screen-framing/storage doors. I love all the clever innovations all the peeps bring to their unique circumstances with similar issues!

It is fully operational. I ended up using 5 in. x 48 in. K-Style Foam Gutter Filter from Home Depot to protect the frames. I will post some more before-and-after pictures this weekend. Thanks for all the great suggestions.Comment

Did they replace it under warranty or anything? Did they say it wasn’t rated for your area? Just wondering why it quit. I keep coming back to wanting a mini split but worried about it keeping up in the winter.
