Impact screen vs TV and net

Just trying to get some ideas about my home build. I have a nice 70 inch TV in my basement. I am planning on a gc2 monitor. I have 9.5 foot ceiling (8.5 in one fourth of ceiling) and 15 feet wide and 20 feet deep.

Anyway, I was wondering if anybody does a setup with a big screen tv in front of your eyes at address, and a net to stop the ball. In other words, in the ball is heading to 12 o’clock, the big screen is at 3 o’clock.

In future I think I will get impact screen. There are so many factors in getting the perfect impact screen and projector setup, that part of me wants to get a simpler setup to start. After I figure out exactly what I will like, I could proceed with the impact screen. Only loss would be cost of a net, which I don’t think is very much, considering all the other expenses.

This seems like a simple way to get started, and with a giant screen right in front of me, it would still have a good visual to work with. I don’t know if it would be disconcerting to look to the side after my shot, instead of just following the natural ball path.

I had that setup for about a year. Was ok to me. I eventually went with the projector and screen setup. It's a better experience, but personally don't think it's a huge deal really. Mine doubles as a nice movie screen too that the kids enjoy a lot.

And on the weekends, sometimes mine turns into a killer karaoke system. With you tube, you got just about any song you would want, ready to go!

Quick question. Where did you aim if you had a net? Is it just a straight line, right angle from launch monitor to ball to net? Did you put some kind of mark on the net to aim at?

I have an almost detrimental sense of aim developed from years of playing real golf. The net I could move side to side if I felt my aim or sense of target was off. The sense of target with the projector and screen is amplified of course. I say it's more detrimental here because my brain always wants to hit toward the center of the screen. I can offset which is a big help but I also have to work at it a lot. Sim golf is definitely different from real golf.

***I should add that I have to offset in my room which makes the middle of the screen left of where my ball is.
