Hi all, I'm in the process of developing my first build in the UK. The room size is 3.2m x 5m with a concrete floor. I'd like to cover the entire floor in artificial putting grass but have the hitting mat on the same level as the grass (rather than sat on top). I was considering the Tee Turf matt https://www.artificiallawn.co.uk/gol...cts/golf-turf/ as this allows a tee to placed directly into the mat. The mat pile is 25mm but the artificial putting turf is approximately 15mm. Maybe I could lay the putting turf on 10mm underlay and cut-out for the mat to sit directly on the concrete floor? Any suggestions or experience please?

Hi Rich! Welcome to the forum. Your underlay idea is spot on, but I would suggest that you hold off on pulling the trigger until you read up a bit more on this site. Turf in the sim room is usually broken into three distinct parts: Hitting strip, stance mat, and surrounding area/putting area. The mat you found might be great, but still not great for you. Accepting a real tee is cool, but not nearly as important as the feel/action of the turf on your club as you hit. Some guys love being punished for fat shots, while others want every shot to feel as buttery as possible.
Anyway, I didn't mean to go off topic, it's just that I'm actually in the phase of doing exactly what you wrote about, but I've done extensive research and tried a bunch of different hitting surfaces and stance mats before getting to this point. What I am using and loving now is not even close to what I thought I wanted when I started. Good luck! -
Thanks for the reply Mike. I've tried the golf turf mat on a friends set-up and it is great. However he has the mat laid on top of carpet and it can move slightly when you hit a shot. Hence dropping the mat to floor level may help?Comment

Similar to what I have done. Mat is 40mm sunk 10mm into the floor and then 30mm artificial grass surrounding. Inititialy I was going to raise the level of the turf with underlay but was a bit worried the mat may still shift hence the reason I sunk it slightly into the floor. I don't have concrete floor though, so sinking the mat was not too hard.
